I loved Shrill so much. I was reading a library copy and halfway through I logged on to book depository and bought my own because I just needed to have a copy forever.

Taiwan is wonderful. If I thought Trump had carefully planned this and considered the potential ramifications for Taiwan, as identified by experts, I would probably be on board (with reaching out to Taiwan, not with him in general). But this was done either ignorantly or recklessly and I can’t support that.
On the one hand I agree that “normal” kids can exhibit these behaviours and I’m concerned at the prospect of overpolicing. On the other a lot of “normal” kids exhibit signs of sexual abuse and we expect that they be reported so an expert can check out the situation. I don’t think we’ll ever have a perfect solution…
Cracked have been producing great stuff like this for a few years now. I think they’re trying to slip it in amongst their usual content so they educate people without them even noticing.
I agree it can be hard if you’re a small business owner, but as a client of small businesses I think if anything goes wrong you should just tell them exactly what you told us – that you wanted to give him a chance. As a client I’d probably accept that as long as I’d had good experiences with that business generally.
I have a family member who struggled with heroin as late teen/young adult. After she recovered someone like you gave her a chance and gave her a job and now she’s been a sober and successful public servant for about 17 years. If it wasn’t for that chance I doubt she could have turned it around, so I just wanted to say…
So lucky!!!
People do not realise what a delicate balancing act maintains peace in Asia. Centuries of animosity bubbling away and most people in the west are completely oblivious to it.
Before the election I had a discussion with a friend who genuinely believes the conspiracy theories and thinks Clinton is evil. I said that, pragmatically, I didn’t think it mattered in this election. Arrogant, reckless stupidity is more dangerous than measured malevolence any day. Give me smart evil over stupid evil.
Even if this was an excuse, I don’t believe it. Taiwan isnt this reckless.
Honestly I think the rest of us are to terrified about what happens next to consider the US a joke right now. It’s bizarre but it’s not funny.
I don’t know if I’m going to be able to cope with this movie
Having read the book I actually prefer the original (floral) cover and it contains a lot of references to the story. The beautiful flowers distract from the grisliness of the chains, kind of like the way the women’s romanticism of the men in their lives hid the misogynist reality of their relationships. Even the hare…
I read this earlier this year and I felt it for days.
When you think about it that shitty stuff isn’t really absent from Hogwarts though. Malfoy et al are fairly intense bullies and the school hands out insane punishments like forcing kids to go into the forbidden forest for detention. That’s even before Dolores Umbridge comes and brings back corporal punishment. I don’t…
Yeah, it’s pretty clear that all the people who are really really into living at Hogwarts are from difficult home environments – from what I remember Tom Riddle never wanted to go home either.
Exactly like that.
Assuming Trump doesn’t bring on the actual apocalypse there is still a small sliver of hope in that scientists are working on a strategy to repopulate the reef using specimens taken from the very deep sea where the coral is still in better shape. IF we can survive Trump the multitude of other climate denying leaders…
Besides, One Nation visited a very small part of the reef and it was FINE, ergo COAL FOR EVERYBODY!
Right. I’d probably wait too if all the people in a store disappeared, because I’d worry something was wrong. And in this case, not realise that the thing that was wrong was apparently me.
