That’s odd. Search works fine for me even with books that I uploaded to Google Play. Here’s me searching for some IBM redbooks.
Nice thing that Google does is that you can always export your stuff from Google Takeout.
Google Play does have a Search and it shows you if you have it in your library or will let you proceed to search for it in the store.
I’ve actually come around to using Google Play books on my Android devices. It really has gotten much better over the years. Now I just wish they’ve update the web version. Unfortunately, that one still looks like a circa 2001 web app.

Ooh yes, this. So many “rich” people I know are mortgaged up their eyeballs. You don’t find this out until there’s a real emergency. The question to ask is how much cash could you get your hands on without a loan in 24 hours if you needed to.
It’s very nice and I love it. It is SuperFAST. Installed it and played with it quite a bit on my Moto X. But it suffers from two things. There’s also a world of difference between “coding” and “software engineering”. More to the point, there’s a world of difference in the skills needed to program an application used occasionally by <50 people versus an application that is used 24/7 by thousands or perhaps millions.

Not necessarily. You can have a great boss, but the levels above him or her might be pretty messed up. I know from whence I speak. In fact, your boss might be looking around too. Joining forces and breaking the news to their bosses is great fun.
I have a utility I found in one of the many RPi blogs that just posts the IP address to Pushbullet whenever it boots. Very handy.
