It used to be on network TV (CBS), but CBS, being not part of a large conglomerate (like ABC/ESPN and Disney or NBC and Comcast) didn’t have the money to keep the tournament without partnering with Turner. Part of the deal was that the Final Four games alternate between CBS and Turner.

This, the Ravens/Orioles issue is something faced by no other big league team except Oakland (which has it even worse), and it makes rescheduling games a pain.

The NFL is at best a fringe sport over there. Probably on par with the popularity of soccer in the US maybe 20 years ago (pre-MLS).

Yes, the NFL (including MNF, playoffs, and Super Bowl) is broadcast on Sky Sports (cable channel owned by Rupert Murdoch, which also holds rights to English soccer games and Formula One).
