Question for everyone: what are your favorite recap pages in comics?

Shred was one of the best arcs out of the entire Brand New Day era of Spider-Man. That was when I started to notice Zeb Wells come into his own as a writer - it's a real shame he spends most of his time on the Man of Action cartoons and doesn't do as much comics work anymore. Plus Chris Bachalo's Spider-Man is

Man, I have got to catch up with Divinity. I loved the first mini and still need to read the second. I even loved the character's appearance in Imperium where he basically took over the series for a couple issues.

Ouch. Yeah I missed that part, which is a shame because I don't remember them being defined so stereotypically in the original series. To be fair, though, not a lot of the parents got much definition and the focus was on the kids. I'm sure Brian K. Vaughan would have gotten to the parents if he wasn't constantly

Regarding the villain in New Super-Man: Gene Luen Yang is the ONLY person I would trust with reviving a racial stereotype. Based on American Born Chinese and The Shadow Hero though, I have faith that he can approach caricatures with more thought and awareness than anyone would expect.

A lot of those rumors involve bringing back a lot of A-list talent that departed for Image. Marvel has been a creator-driven company since at least the Jemas/Quesada era. I appreciate how many new voices have had a chance to shine in the last year or two, but I get the feeling that newer creators with less clout have

What did you read this week?

Asian American representation in TV/film has been pretty horrible these days, which is why I'm pleasantly surprised (and it is sad that I am surprised) that the Nimoru family will be played by Japanese American actors. I would have been disappointed if they went the route of casting a hapa (mixed) actress and tried to

Awesome recommendation! It's a little far out from where we plan to stay - Tokyo and Osaka (with day trips to Kyoto and other places). I'll check with Mrs. Z to see if she'd be interested in a side visit.

Hey thanks for checking in! It looks like Love Fest has slipped a bit, without a post since last month, but as a former theatre geek I can understand the struggle. Don't worry about it. If you can, Tuesday's Comics Panel would be a great fit!

I really hope he's learned how to use Google docs…

Adding it to the list! Thanks bud.

Batman #16 was such a refreshing change of pace. It almost felt like a completely different series (a much more comedic one), but it brought me back to King's excellent work with the Robins while he was still on Grayson. I loved it, though I didn't think Finch's artwork was a good match for the tone. His

Doing mixed to good myself. On the work front, I took a big group of students and teachers to go watch Hidden Figures. I was really looking forward to this one because I thought it could provoke some great conversations with the kids on entering the STEM fields. I was disappointed when I found out that some of the

Hey! What did you read this week?

I actually had to call my wife over so we could read that section together. We burst out laughing out loud.

Bendis/Maleev were always intending to do a 12-issue run, with the intention of handing the book off to a new team that carried on with the tone they set. Bendis admitted that the low sales led to outright cancellation instead.

I remember inserting the discs into my PC and downloading them as backgrounds, so you're probably right!

I'd really dig an adaptation of Peter David and Todd Nauck's Young Justice growing up. Tone-wise, it's somewhere in between the Teen Titans and Young Justice animated series. Just really fun stories with a great set of teen characters.

"Doesn't deserve much more of a response than this - my god you are a stupid motherfucker."
