You just created a ton of work for those show runners man. Well, really the both of you. Lol

Unfortunately sci fi television is scarce, especially epic sci fi and space operas. So fans of sci fi will torture themselves even when the writing sucks, lazy tropes are used, attention isn’t paid to continuity or brand or the show is just plain preaching and the characters just become the voice of a writer/writers.

I think the cinematography is an attempt to deliver theme and atmosphere where writing has failed. Such as diagonal shots, which I find to be annoying because they are not enhancing the story, they are carrying it.

Saru watching two of his crew mates fight and then them wrapping it up with Pike saying ‘well I will let it go this time but don’t let it happen again’ was ridiculous. It was ridiculous because it was clearly a lazy attempt by Disco to demonstrate the ‘changes’ with Saru. The conflict made sense but a better way I

I can see Gordon playing Londo and G’Kar against each other in a battle of practical jokes. Londo wakes up with a normal Mohawk. “G’KARRRR!!!”

I don’t get the sense that Handlin particularly cares about old canon. I think the criticism is that the show won’t commit: either be totally devoted to cannon & live within those confines, or throw out the old rules and do something totally new. Stop trying to have their cake and eat it too.

Only Babylon 5 could make “you moon faced assassin of joy” work

There’s a moon in the sky
It’s called the Moon!

In trying to be edgy while also kissing the fans’ asses with little Easter eggs, we instead get a tedious trip into melodrama. It’s just poor writing.

I guess if the Discovery show runners run out of TOS characters and planets to re-imagine, they could just perform some time travel jump towards the 24th century. I mean there are 3 series X 7 seasons full of incidents, planets, characters waiting for Disco to explore them further.

The reviewer makes a very valid

She also appeared to be wearing lucite heels too which. Yuck.

When the season first started I was thinking I would be more interesting in seeing him and Rebecca Romijn and a whole crew of recast characters from The Cage just do the version of Star Trek that that show set up before they retooled it with Shatner. Just do the adventures of Pike’s Enterprise.

In either case Anson is probably the best thing in the show right now. Was just thinking about this and honestly they could have just had him be a whole new character and that probably would have worked just as well.

Oh please. Both Disco and Orville are guilty of making episodes where I have to switch my brain off. Neither are endearing examples of Trek’s appeal.

Is there anyone on this show that isn’t in desperate need of some talk therapy?

The way this show veers between stepping all over and completely ignoring continuity is disorienting.

That’s how they handle Vina? Jesus Christ this show sometimes.... Just call it Alt. Universe and go full Gotham crazy...

I agree that this is one of the best episodes of the series; I was already thinking that through most of its length and then it went up another notch just for the turn Blanchett’s performance took right at the end. The tightrope of acknowledging that this stuff can look ridiculous and yet it can have a powerful effect

I’ve never seen this show, and barely even heard of it. But Cate Blanchett is in an episode, so... I’m probably going to watch it!

I’m absolutely astounded by how this series has consistently managed to parody without pointing-and-laughing. The way they grab on to the heart of its subjects is just inspirational. A lot of the show comes off just powerful and poignant, which is just amazing. And, of course, when they go directly for absurdity using
