There is no substance in this show.
Just an endless effort/race to impress the fans.
They never dared anything, they only borrow and sometimes abuse the history of ST.
There is no vision, just a patchwork of ST elements and bits and pieces from whatever they think is trendy TV these days.
It really surprises me there

The more this season unfolds, the worse idea it seems to have made the silliest aspect of the first season (Michael’s super-improbable relationship with a franchise favorite character) the anchor of this one.

The Talos IV thing made my eyes roll so hard I could see my brain.

But disco still sucks. Also it was responsible for plenty of std.

The first half of the season was basically a television version of “The Search For Spock” with a bit of Mario Brothers thrown in, as each episode we think we are going to see Spock, but then learn “Our Spock is in another castle.”

No, you’re not being too hard on it. The show makes no sense, internally or with lore.

It’s weird how Sarek convinces Burnham to take Spock to Section 31 by being all “you have a troubled Starfleet history and risk a court martial otherwise”, and then like 5 minutes later she just goes on the run with him anyway.

In which case, they never should have called it “Section 31" if this is the pre-cursor to a dark agency.  The idiots who run this show....

We did, confabulat - and we’re doing it again, because Zachary Quinto costs too much - I mean, because this is thematically a different type of Spock!

constantly trying to have these big grand moments without actually having earned any of them” - yep, that describes the aesthetic of J.J. Abrams, who was a mentor to Disco’s Alex Kurtzman.

Every episode of this show feels like it moves at warp 9, but with a drunk Ensign Crusher at the helm. Except for the Beta Quadrant episode (which I had hoped would be a turning point) Disco never seems to give the audience a chance to relax and simply immerse themselves in Star Trek for a minute or two.  The show is

Starfleet: Where’s Spock?

Maybe we’ll get lucky and it will be Mirror Universe Spock.

I had assumed that the “Red Angel” is probably Michael Burnham from the future. It’s probably how they’re going to recont her not being mentioned at all (but to be fair Discovery doesn’t mention Sybok either).

I’m worried since they don’t know enough about the evolved Kelpians, like basic things, like can the evolved form reproduce or just the unevolved? They just evolved everyone and if they didn’t figure out that before hand after this generation that’s it for the Kelpians.

Handlen’s put in the work on Trek here for almost a decade and done a fantastic job. You don’t like it, scamper off to reddit or something to feel better about yourself.

Crazy, isn’t it? It’s almost like I’m doing exactly what you are with this “counterreview” you’re trying to do here to de-legitimize Zack’s take. Get over yourself, crazy person.

....it was the cider.

well, there are easier ways to justify getting a new TV...but you sound like a betting man...

If the Red Angel ends up being Spock, I’ll throw my TV out the window.
