I agree with your commenter name wholeheartedly, but this isn't true. In Judaism female dead bodies are washed and wrapped in shrouds by women, and it is the dead that make the living impure, never the other way around. There are many sexist aspects to traditional Jewish funerals but this isn't one of them.

I also have a question, are there any other rituals or special customs that we should know about, to avoid spreading any misinformation? I got that information from reading the news sources', extremely brief information.

And FINALLY Jezebel mentions this story.

Your information is wrong. In Islam, women are allowed to touch dead bodies, for example while in performing janaza ghusl, the ritual washing of the body before burial (IIRC women wash women's bodies, and men wash men's bodies). There is no "dirtying" of the deceased by being touched by a woman. Where did you get your

This wins the most inspiring post of the day. I hate that it resulted from such a tragedy, but I can't help but be inspired when when I see this level of activism.

For those that don't know, normally, it is the men that carry the coffin(s) and they are also closest to the coffin, so for these women to do so, is a major act of defiance and protest.

I gotta tell ya, I think the level of vitriol directed toward the Kardashians says a tremendous amount about our society. I don't particularly care for them, which I've said time and time again. I think they're kinda tacky and boring.

I'm surprised as well. People are acting like it's all their fault for being in an accident because 'they have money and should have hired a driver.' What is that?

It seems to be the cool thing over at Gawker to bemoan the fact that everyone is safe. Including the baby.

Y'all.

SMH, some folks just don't know when they have been dismissed. Trolls just keep trolling along.

True, and I do agree, but it would have to be climate-specific. Driving on icy roads is no picnic sometimes: even on icy streets, it's damn scary what can happen as you're pulling up to a stop sign or a red light, however gently, and hit a patch of black ice.

I'm a white woman, and I don't trust the police. I was driving my cousin back to campus last summer. He is a US citizen, but is of Polish and Moroccan descent, and looks more Moroccan than he does Polish. The policeman pulled us over, didn't ask for my license or the license of my wife, but asked for my cousin's

The police is incredibly racist (and sexist) and probably always will be since its an institution based on power and conservative ideas about state and security. However, I haven't learned that they are my friend and think they're only friends with the top 1% or something.

Yeah i don't like her after she said that white people can sing the n-word if black people record it.

Fifty years after the death of Malcom X, institutional racism still exists, the silence on #blacklivesmatter is still deafening and another example of the black and white world we still live in.

I'm a law student and just came back from Dilley, Texas, where I was one of the first pro bono legal representatives for the women and children detained there. If you are as outraged as we are, please consider helping out our newly formed non-profit, which will help these women post bond: http://www.gofundme.com/bond4r

Yep and i am not looking forward to what happens if Hilary wins because she is more right-wing than Obama is.

These detention centers are hotbeds of abuse. Women are assaulted and raped. This is despicable.

And yet you keep responding. And by the way, pretending you're outraged by this post after your racist tirade makes you the troll sweetie.
