I was leaning against putting highway overpasses on my model railroad. Now I’m considering it, just so I can see if I can rip the roofs off some N-scale autoracks!

They exist because of the long laps at Le Mans. If one car can run more efficiently than the rest and can extend their stint by one lap, it’s an almost automatic win. So it is a means of forcing stints of the same length on all cars.

With you until we got to safety. It’s nice to be able to watch cars go pinball and be able to be confident that everyone will walk away with nothing but a bruised ego. The days of multiple drivers dying in a season weren’t the good old days.
