Very cool. I just took the safety course last weekend. I passed, so I have a newly-minted endorsement. It was my first time on a motorcycle in decades (although I mountain bike a lot), and much of the second day was in heavy rain. So, fun, until a classmate was injured.

You’re using reason and logic. Being on a grand jury and around relatives in law enforcement taught me a lot of people do not. For instance, I believe if there was a warrant for my arrest I’d be extremely cautious. I definitely would not run a red light while driving a car with expired plates—and a bag of cocaine in

When I was very young my dad had a yellow Dodge Super Bee. (Back then they were cheap and mostly unwanted, given the move away from leaded gas and looming oil crisis). That car was a six-year-old’s dream. It looked right out of a Saturday-morning cartoon, was adorned with smiling bees, and made a truly wicked sound. I

I’m late on this, but I also drive my older parents. Rather than offer a specific suggestion I’ll give a bit of my experience.

It was the mid to late 80s, so it was more of a common, see them everywhere car back then, even though many had boards instead of bumpers. And it helped me better appreciate every other car I’ve owned.

I had a ‘79 Cutlass Supreme for a little bit in college. That car was constantly finding ways to make me miserable and drain what little money I had.

I volunteer with an organization that has some Sprinters, among other vehicles. It didn’t take long before an order came to remove all Mercedes-Benz badging, as complaints were coming in. As far as I know, all the other makes still have their badging.

Now playing

“Eat My Dust” starring Ron Howard and so much mid 70s cheese. Not a racing movie, exactly, but a teen who steals a stock car to impress a girl and gets chased by police (led by his dad) and, if I remember correctly, drunken stock car drivers at one point.

Odd. I was thinking about that game the other day, and why I’ve never seen another game give you a nickname with the only explanation in the manual being something like, “This is what the other racers call you.” And some of the requirements for an indie racer to accept a challenge were pretty strange. Only on certain

That’s on The Western Reserve Greenway in Ashtabula County, Ohio.

Yes. That path has a few of them. It’s The Maple Highlands Trail in Geauga County, Ohio.

I do too, but I haven’t motorbiked in a long time. Maybe just make engine noises once in a while when pedaling hard to avoid heresy. And the sounds when biking are inspirational. The whirrrrrrr when coasting at a pretty good clip reminds me of childhood’s best days.

Thank you, and hi! I bought the bike in March, and it’s greatly helped in being able to get out, exercise, explore, and try to keep things in some sense of perspective. I’ve wanted to return to biking for a while, but I had gotten too large post-accident until this year. I’m discovering parks and trails I didn’t even

Awesome! A few of those look like where I’ve been riding, too.

I thought one of the justifications of endurance racing, especially at Le Mans, was that it pushed the manufacturers to develop more efficient and reliable cars and apply the lessons to consumer vehicles. Maybe that was long ago, especially before VW’s diesel shenanigans.

I’ve long wanted to take a cross country trip and especially want to see the redwoods. I’m not sure if/when I’ll get that chance now, though.

I think a lot of manufacturers would be in better shape by implementing some level of minimum dealer standards. When I last shopped new vehicles, for instance, I ruled out Subarus after being treated more like a “mark” than a customer, and just the ads from Kia dealers kept me away. But I see plenty of both brands on

Hi. Regarding the Mazda 3 I’ve had a 2012 sedan version since new, and it’s been excellent. Mine’s the manual but it’s capable of being engaging when I want, calm when I want, doesn’t draw too much attention, and has been very reliable. (The only other car I’ve owned on par with the reliability was a 2000 Accord

I looked at manuals under $10K in the area on Autotrader to distract myself from thinking about a medical procedure today and saw a 2006 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT. While I’m surprised that a car that old, with such poor fuel economy (and requires premium), and prone to being hooned and poorly modified has an asking price
