Straight line traction issues are due to the rear diff not being stiff enough, causing wheel-hop. The Harrop diff cover mitigates that problem significantly.
GTO owner here. Traction can be fixed with the Harrop rear diff cover. Throw in some Hotchkiss sway bars and Harrop’s brake package and you have an awesome, reliable, canyon carver.

Obviously you could never have used the Duramax in the 1/2 ton applications, but how would emissions have limited it in a true Heavy Duty chassis? I’m not even sure the Duramax would fit on the 1/2-ton chassis.

I have looked into Duraburb, and they do amazing work. It still baffles me that people will pay six figures for an aftermarket Duramax swap, but GM thinks they won’t make money by offering it from the factory.
