I’m no fan of Tom Brady, but I don’t have an opinion to put here after that statement.

Sure, but the—or, well, a—problem with this story is that it doesn’t raise any actual factual dispute that might challenge Holtzclaw’s conviction. It just treats the conviction as one among a competing set of essentially equal narratives, as if it’s just, like, the court’s opinion, man, and everybody’s entitled to…
If you want to write a story about how a convicted criminal is actually innocent, you need to provide actual evidence to support it. And you need to actually explain the evidence that led to the conviction. This piece basically said “Well his friends and family don’t think he did it and the victims were poor black…
That was one of the big problems with this piece. This guy, who probably pitched this piece because he wanted to re-use the reporting/sources he had from Holtzclaw’s college football career, thought he was doing something in the vein of “Serial” or “Making A Murderer.” But he never actually investigated the case or…
If you want to write a long story that paints a complex portrait of a villain, it is adivisable to first find a villian with some degree of complexity. Former college football player turned cop who likes to rape women ain’t exactly Richard III.
Everybody who thinks they’re really clever by ignoring multiple relevant paragraphs in the article and saying shit like “obviously this isn’t for women who are already serious football fans, it’s for people who aren’t football fans yet that the NFL hopes to entice ...”
It doesn’t matter which segment this is directed it: it’s the NFL’s most visible outreach towards women, and therefore the NFL’s (self-described) most important.
This isn’t to say that it’s not okay to enjoy some of this stuff. (Who hasn’t painted their nails team colors?) The problem is that this is almost exclusively the only version of womanhood offered—sexed up, dumbed down, and focused on supporting your man, with no room to be any other way.
Jesus. Every bit of this makes me want to go punch a wall. This is a really great breakdown, Diana and Jolie.
(That said, I wouldn’t mind a gender neutral clinic to teach a casual fan like me how a pass play works, for instance.)
Seems like you’re the expert on it.
Ciara already tried a Future upgrade; it didn’t take.
Not that I can recall. Privately, however, I can think of one, perhaps.
Equipment Manager: You want me to cut your jersey so you can breathe a little better in there?
“Wait, you can be praised for this?” - Eddie Lacy
There’s an old Jezebel thread where we went over this. 69 is just not satisfying- it’s hard to give when you need to concentrate on receiving. It’s a waste of time and at the most one partner gets pleasured while the other does the damn work but the one who o’s thinks they’ve accomplished something.
To my memory the last time I did it was in 2001.
“Say what you will about Cardinals fans . . . .”
You know that moment when somebody in your neighborhood does something really really stupid and you’re hoping nobody outside your neighborhood notices?
As a Packers fan, I’ve taken no glory nor mocked any Vikings fan over this loss. Last year’s loss to Seattle shows what happens when you take a routine special teams play for granted.
