The officer needs escalation retraining. And firearm training.

It’s the bully to cop pipeline.

They all think they’re in a fucking movie. That’s not hyperbolic. Cops literally change how they handle their job based on which movies they watch.

He’s on the curb side, so he could definitely step back and not need to hold his pistol in the Blue Lives Matter Close quarter combat training camera-block position.

Maybe... perhaps... if you think there’s a possibility of getting a gun in your face... maybe... I dunno... DON’T WALK BACK UP TO THE CAR AND WAIT FOR BACKUP.

Statistically speaking:

The officer apparently explained “why the gun was pointed at him” and the passenger said he understood. According to Berg’s statement, the driver “actually apologized.”

When you get pulled over, have your music off and the window down and your hands on the wheel (in plain sight) before the officer approaches your window. And when you reach for your documents whether it’s in the glove compartment or in the visor or under a seat, alert the cop as to what you’re doing.

Their reaction in every single situation I have ever seen, heard, read about, or personally experienced is completely out of proportion to the reality of said situation.

Oh puhleeze...point me to all the articles about cops getting jumped by heavily armed “perps”. Can’t? Didn’t think so.

On the one hand, the officer has trigger discipline. On the other hand, he’s pointing a firearm at a target he hasn’t actually decided to shoot, as if to threaten...and only to threaten.

What really gets me is the way this officer is pointing the gun at them not only WELL within arms’ reach (a huge fucking nono for anybody that has ever had even the first fucking hour of firearms training in their lives), but he’s doing it in this absurd ‘gangsta’ style, holding it sideways, right against his own…

Is “hold your pistol side ways and under your chins” an approved shooting stance? Is there some reason this cop couldn’t take a step back, or to the side rather than stick his gun in a “perpetrator’s” face?
