Silly counterpoint, considering that the reason MLS clubs lose money is that they’re investing in infrastructure. More are spending their own money on stadiums, facilities, youth academies and the like.

I think all but maybe one or two MLS clubs would compete pretty well in the second division. And the best MLS clubs would be able to stay out of the relegation zone in the Premiership - watching a lot of soccer, I’d say that Toronto FC and NYCFC are both better than Bournemouth.

NASL has needed waivers every year for the last seven years to meet US Soccer standards for division II, US Soccer granted those waivers because frankly, at the time, there wasn’t a viable league to take over Division II status.

MLS does about $600 million a year in revenue despite player salaries being under $200 million a year. They are in no way a Ponzi scheme and the only people who buy that nonsense are people who are willing to swallow whatever MLS owners sell them in order to keep player salaries ridiculously low.
