I dunno, its pretty easy for me to look at some comic art and say it is either definitely from Europe or the artist is heavily influenced by Euro-comics.

I was not at all surprised to look at this example and see that my favorite was 1994, based on the delay and difficulty in getting anime in the USA back then, anime from ‘94 would have been exactly what I was watching when I got into anime at age 11-12 in ‘96-97:

I imagine among the kinds of people who would actually watch and enjoy this movie, many are either familiar with Stanley, Mandy, or both. Cult horror fans are one of the most knowledgeable and dedicated fandoms out there.

Hell yes, big ups to The Void and to Benson and Moorhead. I’m psyched to see what B & M can pull off with an actual budget, their new movie Synchronic has Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan, I imagine one of their paychecks is equivalent to the entire budgets of previous B & M movies.

Watching From Beyond in HD its amazing how well the effects hold up. Everything is so fucking wet and slimy and disgusting and I love it. Plus now you can see the director’s cut, with more S & M and gore!

Its hard to imagine how difficult it would be to have someone close to you commit suicide, but THREE of your brothers? Holy shit.

Yeah it always conjured an image in my head of either some kind of giantess or maybe some long legged Matrix-style robot carrying fetuses.

Yeah, she’s a gorgeous lady but that pic is very unflattering... and even if that pic was the only time I had seen her I would still think she was too attractive to play Coulter. Hey, Frank Langella’s still alive, maybe he would like to reprise one of his most fun roles?

This movie looks like a big bowl of meh, but I hope they at least do right by Ernie Hudson and give him a worthy cameo/moment/whatever. It seems like he has often (always?) gotten the short end of the stick with this franchise, from having his role cut down in the original movie to having to audition to voice his own Read more

They literally did do it 20 years later when they made A Very Brady Sequel in ‘96, when Greg and Marcia have to share the attic and there are jokes about them getting horny for each other.

They just need to drain all the moisture from Gilpin’s body and it could work.

Oh man, that means you missed out on the era here when the comments were full of Stride Mothers working from home and buying F1 McLarens! We got some good memes out of those bizarre word-soup bots.

I think that instead of Celebrity Skin during the credits, they should have played Violet by Hole during the fight scene and Just a Girl over the end credits. As it stands, the fight scene is one of the weaker ones in the MCU, it either needs a more aggressive song and fight or it needed to lean into the goofiness Read more

Nemesis couldn’t even keep me awake. I had grown up on Next Generation and enjoyed the franchise even through the mediocre-at-best Insurrection, but I fell asleep during the last 30-40 minutes of Nemesis and had absolutely no desire to finish it when I woke up. I didn’t think about the fact that this series would be Read more

I am loving the idea of of Sam Richardson as an endlessly loyal A.I.M. minion, bringing some of that unflappably, foolishly positive Richard Splett-energy. This all sounds delightful. I had no idea Oswalt was actually voicing MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Kirsten [Dunst]), I thought he was just producing.

One difference is that IIRC Simpsons took longer to flesh Apu out. He wasn’t much more than the “Thank you, come again!” guy for years, “Homer and Apu” didn’t come along til halfway through the 5th season. I’m pretty sure that was partially a reaction to people complaining about him being a stereotype even way back Read more

“Toxic videogamers” are the people who get mad at studios for delays or send hate mail to Jason Schreier for announcing those delays because they feel entitled to get what they want when they want it. Gamers coming together to say “we would prefer delays to workers being overextended and mistreated” is actually one of Read more

And it has the added bonus of creating jealousy/resentment between workers, because Ted “won” a new 4k TV for his extra work while you got jack shit.
