As someone who wasn't sold on the romance, I didn't need Ashi and Jack together. But since I did like Ashi and loved Scotty, his daughters, and all of Jack's future friends, I would've loved a split timeline. A split timeline would've still been bittersweet, with Jack in his time and Ashi and the rest in theirs, while

I agree that the romantic angst didn't really feel earned. There just wasn't enough development of Ashi as a character or Jack and Ashi's relationship for me to be very emotional when she disappeared. I would've liked to see some of Jack's ending angst to be focused on the loss of his future friends and his

I sort of agree that it would've made more sense for Ashi to fade right after Aku's death and have the rest of the episode showing depressed Jack slowly learning to move on. A scene with his father and mother comforting him and giving him words of wisdom would've been lovely.

Well if you want to fanwank it, Ashi and Jack could've been together a while in the past before their wedding day. I figured it had to take a few years to rebuild Jack's kingdom, so maybe they had a few years of happiness together and winkwinknudgenudge as well lol.

THAT is how to do a bittersweet ending. Jack kills Aku, finishes his quest, reunites with his family and friends in the past, and frees the world for generations to come from Aku's evil. But his future friends may never exist, he doesn't get to stay with Ashi, and he has to live with all of these memories that no one

True, as they say, nothing new under the sun. The basic scenarios to pick from here are Jack and/or Ashi live/die, and Jack and/or Ashi stay in the future/go to the past. Out of any combination of these what will really make the final episode is the small details, emotions, and overall quality of the story-telling. I

Actually a lot of the fandom has speculated that Jack will stay in the future, one way or the other. So it wouldn't be extremely surprising or even unique at this point if that's how it ended. Assuming he is still standing at the end, of course.

I'm perfectly aware this isn't my story to tell, thank you. Just because I'm not in love with every aspect of this story doesn't mean I'm not enjoying it for what it is. As I stated, it is seems to be your personal opinion that the story needed the romance to push it in the direction it needed to go, while I'm of the

That is your opinion. I'm of the opinion a friendship would still carry weight, especially because Jack is a pure soul type of hero who has sacrificed for people he hasn't known as well as Ashi. If he was more of a grey antihero then it would probably take some sort of deep, abiding love for him to not kill her

I'm still meh on the romantic angle, but I appreciate that they weren't selling us on a soulmates, eternal love development in the space of an episode.

Could be, but it is hard to know if he has thought that deeply about the possible implications of his going back to the past without an internal monologue or something.

I mean I won't be angry if it's happy, but it an easy happy ending doesn't really fit with how Genndy has described his ending. I think any happiness will come at a cost. But at this point it could end in a song and dance number and I wouldn't be surprised, as unpredictable as it has been.

A little too happily ever after for my tastes, but at this point just about anything can happen.

Depends if they decide to go with Multiverse theory. Then Ashi's timeline could still exist at the same time Jack is creating a new one in the past. Would be a trippy end to the series.

Well there is still a very strong possibility Jack won't make it. I can see that. At this point the season has been so unpredictable that just about anything can happen. I wouldn't even be stunned if the last episode ended on another cliff hanger and we're told to tune in next season. Just kidding, but not really.

This is a cartoon, logic doesn't always apply, even the in universe logic.

I'm hoping she helps defeat Aku, keeps her new found demon powers and uses them for good instead of evil like her dad. Fingers crossed.

I don't disagree with you. I know some fans argue that there needed to be a romance to make the twists/plots more impactful, but I think Jack would find it just as impossible to kill Ashi if they'd remained platonic. He would still see her as ultimately a good person who was innocent but being controlled by evil. Plus

I know everyone feels for Jack, but poor Ashi. She can't catch much of a break. An abusive childhood, brain washed to be a killer, and just when she was becoming her own person Bam! She is literally Aku's daughter and back under someone else's control. I hope she breaks free and makes it to the end.

Well color me surprised, I really thought they were going for something easier. Interesting development.
