I'm in the middle of downloading the new Debian build of Mint. Looks like good stuff.

What would be cool is if they switched over to using Google Drive for music as well, and continued to give you the free 20,000 song storage. Then if you went over that limit you could used your Google Drive space for overflow and even possibly purchase more space. I think that would give you the best of each service.

And if none of those other options work for you, I would say give Linux Mint a shot. I switched over to it from Ubuntu a while back and it's a solid distro.

Oh yeah. Everything in apartments is the absolute cheapest they can get their grubby mitts on.

I'm in favor of a giant boxing glove punching users in the face and making the computer shout "Dumbass" every time they get a virus.

I don't know if that will come or not. They already sync it with your Google Music account. I'm assuming you'd like access to it from something like Winamp or WMP?

I've already got mine setup, but a coworker had to sign up for updates, so it appears to be a bit randomized.

I won't dispute that. It's all a matter of what you're used to. I'm the exact opposite. Used gas stoves all my life and then spent a 2 year stint in an apartment with an electric stove. I hated it.

To be honest, I don't think so. Anything that the feds could do can also easily be done by scammers if they really wanted to be convincing. The only way to really keep stuff like that from happening is to fundamentally change the way the internet works. And let's be honest here; none of us want to deal with that BS.

That's actually a valid point. People are morons.

So does living at an altitude over 6000 feet. Good news is that the effect is so negligible that it doesn't matter. Besides, have you ever been to a restaurant where they use an electric stove? The pros use gas and so do I (despite my lack of being anywhere near pro).

Agreed. Induction surfaces are cool and all, but nothing compares to the power of the gas powered stove.

That opens up a huge can of worms. As a computer tech, we routinely tell people that if they get a message about a virus and it's not from their anti-virus, then they should just get away from the page entirely and not click on anything.

I agree. The 16:10 ratio is excellent for computers. I hate all this BS with 16:9. These ain't TV's damnit!

I got lucky and got all mine before the 16:9 craze hit computer monitors.

Desktop: 1920x1200 on my main 24" monitor with matching secondary and tertiary 22" monitors at 1680x1050.

You could also leave the monitor at native resolution and up the DPI of Windows (assuming you're using Windows).

I like Mint by far out of all of these, but I've heard a lot of good things about Arch. It sounds like I'll need to try it out and see what it's like. Hell, I need to learn more Linux anyway.

Agreed on the Justified part. I cut my satellite about 5 months ago and had to resort to torrents to get the third season of Justified. That being said, HD with no commercials is pretty awesome.

I would definitely recommend it. Although they have a slight issue with version 12 as Gnome 3 is a pile of junk. They've got a few different environments right now to choose from including one called MATE, which is a fork of Gnome 2. That being said, they're working on their own interface for Mint to bring it back
