Buffy started in 1997 and ended in 2003. Angel started in 1999 and ended 2004. Firefly ran 2002 - 2003, well towards the end of Buffy and at least halfway through Angel.

I was at the Austin sneak-preview screening of Serenity where Nathan Fillion and Ron Glass showed up and did a good hour-long Q&A after the movie. He seemed charming, humble, and hilarious. If he’s a creep, he covers it really well.
I hear you, but I guess my point is that if that’s the case then not only is Whedon a crappy person, but a lot of the folks around him were as well - people I thought better of - for not speaking out against it or giving their implicit approval by socializing with him.
This came up in another Whedon-related thread; I wondered why we haven’t heard from any of the Firefly cast about issues any of them had with him. Someone wondered why I cared, that it didn’t negate anything any of the other actors have accused him of, and I’ve been sitting with that since then. I think I finally know…
The last movie I went to see in a theater was at an Alamo in Austin - that was February of 2020.
We moved to Winchester, VA and there’s an Alamo here - my wife and I bought tickets to see a show just over two weeks after her second round of vax.
I am so. excited.
Missed opportunity: should have said he’s 0079 years old.
This one makes a great double feature with The Fountain.
The sight of a needle going into my skin makes me go all “far and wee” - shallow, racing pulse, clammy skin, vision closing in. I did an old-school allergy screening years ago that involved tiny little subdermal needles and just watching those made me almost pass out.
Just not looking is the biggest key for me.
“thank goodness they didn’t make it a literal hand of God”
Wow, that’ll teach me to multitask - that should have been:
“...comments about how Joss may have treated “small-time stars” DIFFERENTLY from big names”
and
“...everyone described the conditions, though rigorous (long hours) AS LOVING AND FAMILY-LIKE”.
Woof.
I am very curious to hear from anyone in the Firefly cast. I see the comments about how Joss may have treated “small-time stars” from big names, but most of the regulars on Firefly weren’t huge stars; Baldwin had done movies and Ron Glass had played a memorable tv character but for the most part they were all pretty…
As long as you have to bind your Facebook account to an Oculus device, the answer for me is: neither.

No, it was partway up the hill and quite nice.
Amusing note: we were asking the hostess about the building and she said it had been a convent at one point, then (as she politely put it) it had been a “hotel available for rental by the hour...”
We went to Ireland a few years back and spent a few days at a lovely B&B in Cork; one morning we went down for breakfast and my wife asked for porridge. Our hostess Kathleen asked if she’d like Bailey’s porridge; my wife asked what that was? Kathleen replied, somewhat patiently, “It’s porridge with Bailey’s in it?”.
And…
BBC’s 2008 Survivors. Loved the story and characters, and the second season ended on a complete cliffhanger...and just never got picked up again. Ugh.
Before I saw this movie in the theater I read a review that described it as “War of the Worlds” as directed by Irwin Allen.
It set my expectation-meter PERFECTLY.
“Vitamin supplements are somewhere between mostly useless and completely useless.”
What’s that now?
”If you eat fruits, vegetables, and animal products on any kind of regular basis, you almost certainly have all your bases covered.”
If I recall, Barry actually consulted with Hiaasen (they were working at the same paper when he wrote this).
It’s part of a genre that I think Hiaasen referred to as “South Florida wackos”. See, also, John D MacDonald’s Travis McGee series.
It’s definitely my preferred way of eating oatmeal now - use good steel-cut oats; toast them lightly in a saute pan before cooking; then throw a pat of butter and some kosher salt and fresh black pepper in with it when it’s ready, along with some toasted slivered almonds and crushed walnuts. Mm, mm good!
Gonna have to…
