Come to Texas and meet scorpions. They’re just like cockroaches, but armed.
Didn’t the initial “Tripping the Rift” short, “Love and Darph”, precede this?
I’ve loved The Stand since I first read it shortly after it came out.
I thought Sean Penn would have made a great Randall Flagg...
Love that song, but this would have been mine:
Years ago I read an article about when it’s time to stop following a show - basically, when you find yourself saying “I don’t care what happens to these characters”. I hit that with Walking Dead many seasons ago (I could go farther and say I actually wanted all the main characters to just die in a fire).
TGP is one of…
The second Halloween we ever took my son trick-or-treating, we got back to the house and told him we were going to watch a Halloween movie that he had never seen, and that he could have a couple pieces of candy. He grabbed a lollipop just as we started Nightmare Before Christmas, and then he sat there unmoving with…

My 2019 resolution was to do 10,000 pushups in the year. It’s not particularly ambitious, average of just under 30 a day, but it was more about sticking with it. I just checked off my 7500th pushup this morning - just have to do 25 a day for the rest of the year to complete it.
My boys loved scary movies when they were younger (think 12 and 7) so we rented this one night; I’d read the book so figured it would be a fun romp. That ending resulted in projectile weeping and trauma from both boys. Was NOT prepared for that.
Also - what the heck do I have to do to get out of the greys? I’ve been participating in conversations on this thing for years and years.
I’m there with God of War - I’ve reached the final Valkyrie and am just not feeling the urge to keep losing over and over and over again.
I think what the author doesn’t state correctly, but that IS a valid point, is the difference between a whetstone and a waterstone.
Whetstones have been used forever, but my impression is that the use of waterstones for sharpening is a relatively recent thing in the West, whereas they’ve been used in Japan for centuries…
About ten years ago a friend of mine gave my son and I a ride in his older pickup truck; at one point I noticed my son - who was about 9 at the time - looking at the door with a look of puzzlement on his face. “What’s that?” he asked - and pointed at the window crank handle.
Shuri’s fate was shown in the first trailer released back in December.
Oh, I’m not ashamed that I like it!
I was in college when the original Conan the Barbarian came out; it was in heavy rotation on whatever video playing device was standard for many many years since - to the point that I can quote most of the movie start to finish.
Never saw the movie, but that album was kind of a primer for young me discovering the music of the time.
One of my favorite Robin Williams stories - one not covered in the documentary - is how he would call Steven Spielberg weekly while Spielberg was working on Schindler’s List and do 15 minutes of standup to keep him from being overwhelmed by the subject matter.
Some will sniff and say the Salt Lick is too touristy, but it’s still fun and the barbecue is great (though if you want The Real Deal, take a drive to nearby Lockhart, the bbq Mecca). If you’re looking for good sushi or fusion, Uchi and Uchiko are amazing. We’ve got a really thriving food trailer scene. A drive out…
Spent ten days in Ireland over Christmas in 2016 and the first night went to a pub in Cork and asked for a whiskey recommendation. Without hesitation they suggested Redbreast - and they were not wrong.
