Don't ignore audio. Dynamic Range Compression for audio is essentially the same as dynamic contrast for picture. It might make your commercials seem quieter, but it crushes the loud and quiet parts together to the same volume and gets rid of the more natural variation in sound.

This has to do with what format the content was originally created in. Newer shows and movies are (mostly) in 16:9. They will fill your screen just fine. Older content was made in 4:3 for the square TVs of yesteryear. These shows will have the letterboxing. I recommend not using the zoom features at all and just
