Meanwhile, there’s now legislation to require forward cameras on vehicles because more children are being killed in “frontover accidents” where the driver can’t see the first 10-12 feet of ground ahead. Think about that. We’re now talking about cameras to see in the direction we generally look out of our vehicles.

Large and heavy do not mean the same thing. Since we are talking about pedestrians, the problem with pickups and SUVs is the height at which they strike you, not that they weigh more.

DO IT! Tax the crap out of every single full sized truck, and SUV.

This. Not sure why this is omitted from the article. So many vehicles are now classified as trucks, SUVs, and crossovers because the regs incentivize the OEMs to do so. And we Americans can’t get enough of them. Everyone wins.
