Does it matter though? How she’s immune doesn’t influence anyone else’s motivations or actions. They all know she’s immune, the “how” is irrelevant. Even the flashback with Anna, was more to show her(Anna and/or Ellie’s) connection to Marlene.

Honestly it’s still sort of surreal that we have a video game adaptation that isn’t just passable or decent but honestly great by any standard, not just by video game adaptation standards.
