Every culture on earth that encountered africans has a tradition of blackface. From America to india to china and japan. The fact of the matter is, black people look funny. Hell this is even a thing in africa, if cosmetic surgery and skin lightening trends are to be believed.

That is not actually correct in Chicago nor are the majority of young people who end up with EM “juvenile delinquents.” As noted in the article, it is typical for EM to be used before a minor’s court date (so they are accused but not convicted of a crime). Many times, charges are dropped. And no, they are not charged

I would bet you a bajillion dollars that no one clearly explains the surveillance capabilities of the device to a potential wearer.

Hahaha, whatever makes you sleep at night!

Dude, I don’t know what you’re reading from Black people in 1840, but I don’t believe there ever was a time where a White actor wore Blackface who was not bigoted or intended to denigrate Black people due to their wretched conditions in slaveholding America. They knew how to apply dark makeup in a way to not make it

The thing is...I don’t think the definition has changed all that much.  Hell, civil rights leaders were talking about the same things 60 years ago that we’re talking about now.

I am kind of confused why people are mad at your comment. You never state that you agree with the things public schools do for such situations. You just stated the unfortunate reality that happens a lot in public schools. I question the sanity of some of the commenters really.

I would love to see the Schedule C on that one.. And if you can tax it, then you could insure it..

Suspension seems entirely too light considering a kid died.

Nothing that would EVER warranet a beating, let alone death, that’s for damn sure.

There’s actually no such thing as racism. Hate is hate and skin color has nothing to do with it.

The oil producing (middle eastern) countries have known for decades that they’d have to use alternate energy sources, and that it makes more sense to just sell the petroleum rather than use it themselves. My impression is they’re investing in wind and solar significantly, as makes sense in a desert. I could be wrong

Before you continue talking to me I should warn you I’m an Elite Gamer and I hate women and minorities (even though I’m a minority myself).

“Journalists” don’t usually take Admin Law, David.

I personally really liked elements of ‘Emerald City’, especially Ozma/Tip and the cardinal witches. I wish it’d had a chance to build out the world a bit more.

I was asking along the same lines elsewhere (about Thorium), and it looks like weapons-grade material “could” be produced from a thorium cycle, but yeah, they probably want a faster route than they’d get with this path.

I believe this is the first time that Gregoy Peck was ever referenced in the comment section of The Root.

Nah

Uh, AOC isn’t white.
