Ive been caught with narcotics and I got my felony case thrown out the first court appearance and paid 500 dollars. Im non violent, educated , have a job and no history. Its just how it works. Did you you think they were going to do months of work to prosecute this to get maybe a weeks jail time and fines???

While this case is high profile, dropping felony convictions in a big city is not uncommon. Almost everything gets a plea deal - a system that is actually much criticized by liberals and progressives because it often results in those without means getting pressured into pleading guilty.
