This is beginning to sound like that episode of Monk where a method actor gets cast as Mr Monk in an adaptation of one of his cases, only to be gradually driven mad by trying to embody all of his neuroses.
As others have pointed out, it is structured like a classic dramedy. Meaning basically it is like a mirror image of a show like Northern Exposure, where everyone is deliciously awful instead of endearingly charming.
Week 8 of Damn I Love This Show.
I’d actually say that - at least so far - on a whole the story of Andor is looking to be a lot more important to the mythos/world of Star Wars than almost any other recent TV show/spin-off. Obi-Wan’s grand contribution was ret-conning a single line from RotJ, while Andor is basically showing the entire conception of…
I need a “The Office” style sitcom built around the Bureau of Standards
I can’t believe how good this show is. After Boba Fett and Obi-Wan (both shows I largely disliked), I really thought all of these Star Wars shows were going to be relatively lazy efforts featuring familiar characters and contrived plots. But this show has the quality of a high-prestige drama with great characters,…
Yeah, and I love that the stakes are so remarkably unremarkable to the point where the heroes could have all been wiped out in this mission, and it probably would have affected absolutely nothing in the greater scheme of things.
Honestly, I think Rise of Skywalker just about killed any interest I ever had in The Force. Between that and the fact that with every passing day my interest in any sort of religion gets smaller and smaller, I’m with you - let the Jedi die, and let’s get back to what made Star Wars great: a believable, lived-in,…
Same here. I know that for many people Star Wars=Jedi & The Force and there’s nothing wrong with that.
The sound of a TIE fighter is a classic. The Nazis put sirens on their Stuka dive bombers as a terror inducer. Sounds ike the same thing with TIE fighters.
Same here. I don’t want to jinx it by admitting it, but as of this moment it’s everything I ever wanted the Star Wars universe to be.
Forget Star Wars TV shows, which have been fairly unimpressive so far. It’s turning out to be one of my favorite pieces of SW content, period.
This is the first Star Wars property that has made the TIE fighter as awesome and fear-inducing as it was back in 1977, in my opinion. Too many movies and shows have made the TIE into easily-dispatched cannon fodder. But in Andor, they’re loud, they’re fast, they’re frightening, and just glorious.
Knives In?
Looking forward to this but only commenting to echo that yes, Logan Lucky, more people need to appreciate that movie.
What a stupid fucking person you are
This is one of the best full-cast performances, top to bottom, that I can remember. Every single one of them is 100% believable in their roles. But Seyfried is absolutely showing more than I ever knew she had. A+.
Seyfried’s performance alone justifies the show’s existence. Just absolutely crushed it. She deserves all the awards.
