Trusts don’t give me commendations for rez’ing them, Mike.
Andromeda bombed but I still think we deserve a Quarian DLC. Wishful thinking.
Since you looked at me.
I would love to ask him all about it, but EA/BioWare declined my requests for an interview with him or anyone else on the leadership team.
I’m so sorry.
Jason, I’ve been a developer on more than one of these types of monolithic ambitious-but-aimless projects that eventually lurches over the finish line (late). You’ve gone through months (or years) of very real suffering to get it to that point, and when it arrives, you’re embarrassed at what’s been put out. It’s…
But the emerging truth from all of them, and your book, is that the basic structure of designing games is broken. People have this desire to build these awesome worlds for us to enjoy. And in too many cases that desire, and the joy that must come with it, is turning into this nightmarish scenario.
Other than Frostbite, Bioware seemed to be their own biggest enemy on this one.
Nice job as always, Jason; thanks for confirming a lot of what we all feared. A game that was rushed out and built with a toolset that at the very least wasn’t an ideal fit. And not learning from Destiny’s missteps because they couldn’t talk about Destiny is pretty galling.
I’ve been waiting for the Schreier breakdown of how this fell apart far more than the game itself.
My impression is that it’s still fair, but you need to learn a new style of play as it isn’t Dark Souls.
Not a big fan of the Soulsbourne games myself, but I can understand where they’re coming from when the difficulty is kind of the point and then reviews try to make it out like it’s a bad thing. Like reviewing an MMO and citing one of the negatives as “you have to interact with other people sometimes”.
Get Origins or Odyssey. Or get them both.
I liked this video so much I had to make an account to shout my appreciation into the web wide world!!!
Why do you comment on Kotaku?
They are unaware that their input is not as original as they think.
I was a big fan of that Metastivision joke. “Punching up YouTube comments” could be a thrilling gimmick to employ in future episodes, because that’s Easy Mode Jokes for me. Plus it leaves the door open for people who would make the same comments I’m punching up to tell me I’m “trying too hard,” which is fun because…
This video has confirmed to me that you are indeed my favorite journalist on this site! The “Metastivision” bit sealed the deal! Ha ha!!!
I’d listen to Tim read 4000 comments out loud.
