Maybe marching bands are just awesome, and we can just celebrate mainstream celebs utilizing them in such high-profile ways.

It's absolutely insane how a lot of other jobs pay for people to get extra education and teaching won't. I am a teacher and I always tell people considering it as a career to find a different career path. It's not worth it.
Ah, okay. That makes sense. Thank you for the clarification. That’s a pretty common practice in the province I’m from--higher pay if you have more education by way of BA with an after degree in education.
You’re a teacher and you didn’t spell out the number two???
Of course it’s a personal choice - no one is forcing 18-year old college freshmen to be English majors at gunpoint. But when people demean liberal arts degrees it sends the message that studying history, language, arts etc. at a level past high school has a low societal value, with which I strongly disagree (and I was…
Where I live, Oakland, there are thousands of people living openly in tents on the street corners, and have for years. These people literally don’t have a pot to piss in, and it’s not just Oakland, it’s everywhere these days.
Yeah, because what this country really needs is a less educated populace.
Oh. So we’ll all just refuse to get degrees until no one has them and they aren’t required anymore?
Right? I was thinking about how all of the people screwed by places like University of Phoenix, which lead to quite a number of those 50K+ debt loads, would finally get some justice and as for-profits disproportionately scam the poor and people of color, that’d be great.
As a fellow Oaklander and zero student loan debt-haver - lol no. This take is so, so bad.
Being able to afford a Masters is not the same as being able to get one. At least half of the cohort in my Masters program dropped out at some point. It’s not for everyone, nor does it need to be. That does not mean it’s not valuable for those who get one, and I’m sure you’ve take advantage of the knowledge from people…
Calling degrees “worthless” just because they don’t necessarily translate to a high-income position post-college is so, so idiotic.
“i have a worthless liberal arts degree and this minimum wage barista job means i can’t afford to pay it back” feels like someone who never took their obligation seriously to begin with - they did not plan for how to pay it back.
...if breastfeeding is working and going as planned. If not, it can be infinitely more painful, time-consuming, and stressful than making a bottle.
Also like...biscuits are good. You know what makes them better? Jam. Honey butter. Gravy. Strawberries and whipped cream. A fried chicken cutlet and some hot sauce, maybe with a lil cheddar. Would I eat a plain biscuit? Hell yeah. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t enhance it. Can I enjoy life without being high? I…
For real. Eat the rich AND smoke their weed!
It’s also easy to be high on life when you’re born never having to worry about paying your cell phone bill, or how you’re going to deal with your student loans, and to basically have success handed to you. Also, I don’t believe him for a second.
So, deadbeats shouldn’t be put in jail for not paying child support? Since child support is a civil matter.
Actually, you’re dead wrong. I’m an active and involved step parent and have no legal claim to my step child. I don’t know if any state that does. Providing DNA does automatically grant them legal rights, it’s just that in some cases, fathers have to prove it was them that fathered the child via DNA tests. It’s not…
Supplying the DNA affords him rights and privileges that non-DNA suppliers but good parental caregivers do not have in many states.
