You're just allergic to crunchy.
You're just allergic to crunchy.
Many people don't get it. Thanks for the support! I hope you find comfort as well.
Dumbledore’s death caused a public meltdown for me too.
You only cried at the end of allegiant? I yelled obscenities and broke down. Thankfully, I was not in public.
You’re not alone. I often feel this way after attacks. Boston was the worst because I have family there and I had to tell a student that his cousin and her new husband were injured, but alive.
We bought a bigger bread because of my pregnancy. It’s fucking amazing. I can starfish and he doesn’t even come close to touching me. And I still get to wake up next to him. Best of both worlds for us.
You’re third sentence makes sense, and I agree with you regarding the conformity component. It’s the attitude in your first 2 sentences that is damaging. Competition and all star cheerleading is not about standing on the sidelines, it’s about performance and stunt work. If you can’t even attempt to see/understand…
Cheerleading doesn’t mandate the slick pony tails. The team did. If it is a race issue, it’s with the team and not the sport.
That’s a really damaging and bullshit stereotype. Competition cheerleading is really fucking different from “cheering for some random dude.” To perpetuate that stereotype is irresponsible since it seems you want to brand yourself a feminist.
Didn’t have great one, either. His impact was negligible.
It seems that he’s trying to, or at least make it look like he’s trying to, change and admit his wrongdoing.
That’s the point. He wasn’t anything special. He didn’t make a huge impact on the game. This counteracts the narrative that he is too good not to be playing.
That’s a good question about Rice. I’d say he’s still serving, in that he is still trying to change, or at least appear to change.
I’d say this is more of a renewed outrage. It was pretty quiet until he returned from suspension, but since then the outrage has been more vocal. Obviously the pictures are going to add to that. Add that to a rivalry game, and the media attention is going to skyrocket.
I don’t disagree with you. I don’t think it should matter or prevent this girl from competing
I admit. There could be a race issue with the TEAM. I doubt it given what I’ve read, but there could be. However that is with the TEAM, not the sport. Cheerleading’s rules state uniformity, not that a team must have straight hair, that they must have the SAME hair.
You’re still missing the point. Many sports have a uniformity component, if a member of the team doesn’t meet this component the team is penalized. This exists beyond cheerleading. Therefore, it doesn’t make cheerleading less of a sport.
How does uniformity make it less of a sport? I’ve seen rules for basketball and football that also enforce uniformity. I know in some basketball leagues that undershirts must be the same color and sleeve length and the entire team needs to wear it, otherwise it’s a technical.
I’m not saying this doesn’t suck, because it does! However, most competitions at the competitive level require uniformity in EVERYTHING, hair, make up, uniform, all of it. If the team’s requirement was a straight pony tail, they could actually lose a competition because one member wasn’t uniform.
There’s some backtracking on the testing hours, but that’s about it. I’m looking into teaching in a cyber environment so that I don’t have to deal with the physical behavior problems anymore. I love the teaching part of my job, and my students (most of the time) but I can’t deal with the lack of consequences and…
