Miami is cooler than KC? Never in a million years would have guessed that. Why is it so hot in Missouri?

When he hit his 500th homer off Jordan Zimmermann at Nationals Park. Poor guy was just coming back from Tommy John surgery and was viewed as the secondary ace behind Strasburg. Pujols absolutely demolished the ball to left field.
I heard the LA mayor on a podcast insist that it won’t cost the city money, and will, in fact turn revenue for city infrastructure. Is this remotely accurate?
I think this is a good way of looking at it. Simmons was sort more creative than talented and rode a wave of Boston good fortune to a national spotlight. I think he’s fashioned himself as a guy who cannot allow a basketball conversation to go on without him, though.
Seems like most of his responsibilities include hosting his biweekly podcast with this friends. Which is just as well, there are plenty of superior writers at the Ringer who are better suited to write/talk about topics he would want to.
Don’t forget Sessions. He might be the worst one. He instructed prosecutors to seek the maximum penalty for drug arrests a few weeks ago, and has gone about undoing any semblance of criminal justice reform that exists in this country.
The MSRP of all the gear they are getting and the value of parking/attending is probably more expensive than the entire volunteer price. Not a bad gig if you are really into watching a week’s worth of golf.
In college I would flip on the simulcast for background noise while getting ready in the morning, only to one day realize that for every 30 seconds of talk, there was about two minutes of commercial and three minutes of filler. I now watch no TV, and am alone, with my thoughts, all day long...
When Charlie Strong got to Texas the first thing he did was kick a bunch of players off the team for “conduct detrimental.” Some of them were starters, and at a school that prioritizes winning as much as they do, risking wins for character is pretty risky. He put all kinds of things in place about making players run…
Here’s the thing. Warmups in hockey are mostly pointless. It’s very automatic and mostly just guys going through rushes with their linemates for 20 minutes at 50% effort. No one pays attention and few people are in attendance as they start. If this guy is getting loose by doing his own thing, the power to him.
Totally agree. While the whole argument put forth here is garbage, the players are not hurting. A school football team rakes in cash hand over fist, maybe some of that could make it’s way down to the Ph.D student or professor who makes a penance.
No one in DC thinks Steinberg is Post’s best employee. He’s not even the best sports reporter or columnist. He’s just got the largest internet footprint.
I’m an avid DC sports fan and Washington Post reader, and honestly, they’re still pretty sharp. The columnists were appropriately critical of the team after Mccloughan was canned. That being said, not every columnist is objective, and many of them cheerlead for the local teams.
I feel like even the most cheerful of flight attendants has a breaking point. Today was it for these people.
I find is act tiring, but that’s because I’m an adult.
I think this is why a lot flame out in the NFL. They can’t run a program the same way and can’t get the most out of guys without controlling everything they do from dusk til dawn.
So few teams do this because by now they just close off practice to all outsiders. If Kirby is so paranoid, just follow suit, it’s less painful for everyone involved than to pretend you allow any sort of access.
Yeah, Guthrie came up for the spot start, and has probably been left behind at the ballpark by now.
Interviewed Blanchard after the Cactus Bowl. Couldn’t have been nicer, more well spoken, and represented Baylor in a way I wasn’t going to expect from that team. Demonstrates why decent reporters don’t ever get cozy with players, eventually they all show their stripes.
You’d be surprised how willingly some outlets will give out credentials. It’s often just a case of if there is space. Certain teams and sports are often at the mercy of their league (the NBA finals are credentialed by the league, not the teams).
