The best US athletes play other sports (football, basketball, baseball, etc.) and many of the developmental leagues are more feasible to families with affluency. Home grown would be great, but USMNT behooves itself to recruiting dual-nationals.

Except that one does not exclude the other. Build all the academy/youth systems you want. But if the best US players are from Germany, get them on the pitch.
