2nd Gear: I’m not a Tesla hater, but the post-S&P slump should not really surprise anyone, even if it is short lived. Stocks get a lot less volatile once actual investment banks start dealing their shares and not just speculators who tend to be more frivolous. “Volatile” for Tesla the last few years meant a market cap

I agree but still cannot get enough of the look. The current 1500 bed on that thing just flipping works.

Slide shows are mandated by Spanfeller, to increase clicks.

Makes perfect sense. Should have clarified I’m with a commercial electrician. We kept working on an addition to the Ford Explorer/Lincoln Aviator campus after production halted in in March.

I don’t doubt Tesla greases plenty of wheels, but I don’t see how they could win any kind of argument in Michigan until they start building something there.

Yeah, that sounds about right.

4th gear is goddam hilarious. I can just picture executives at the big three going ballistic at the politicians “WHAT ARE WE EVEN PAYING TO LOBBY YOU FOR!??!?!??!?!???!?!?!?!??” while some dopey rep sits there picking his/her nose.

I actually think the whole point of this from FCA’s perspective is that they need smaller economical models (other than the Jeep crossovers) in case the big truck craze ends/gas gets expensive again/both, and they see their current margins as desirable to another company that already makes smaller cars.

I don’t disagree with any of that, but I think we are overestimating how quirky these things will actually be. It will be different, sure, and it’ll probably sell well because NPC’s spawn in and just start buying crossovers as soon as they show up on the lot. But this market is already so saturated with diverse

That looks pretty good, and the Nissan comparison was harsh. I’m not lamenting more choice (even if it’s a good choice) in a generally boring segment of the car market, I just get this vibe people think we are gonna get something quirky from overseas like the RCZ or an Avantime when in reality, whatever we get is just

Maybe I’m just in a cynical mood, but I don’t see what so awesome about Peugot coming back. Once you get over the novelty of a badge that has not been around for awhile, you realize most of their lineup is Nissan-level bland and forgettable.

Alas, it was outsold by “stabbed in the eye with a fork purple”

It’s own guilt over being well maintained and never having less than half a tank of gas.

Yeah, fair point. Would probably just replace HD Trucks, Suburbans, and Expeditions.

I had always heard they skirted emissions but wasn’t sure how. I have to imagine that the margins would be just as preposterous as a King-Ranch F-250. And while my inner 5 year old says that would rule, the though of having more enormous vehicles on the road is not something anyone needs.

Don’t get me started on bringing back the Excursion. For what high-mile ones are going for right now, I can’t imagine they’re not having that discussion. I just don’t know if CAFE would let them.

When I was in high-school, the neighborhood hot dog/pizza place owner organized a winga-dinga cruise night every monday night in the parking lot. One time the cops let everyone do burnouts in one of the aisles, but they did them right in front of and driving away from the hot dog place, and wouldn’t you know it, a

The boxy ones rule too, but the 800's were so goddam comfortable on top of what a beast the Vortec engines were. I miss mine so goddam much.

Ford lumps all of the F series together, so why can’t I?

Huh, I always thought the mid 2000's Explorer was F150 based because the front clips were so similar, and because there wasn’t an extended version of Expedition until the Explorer went back to being a Ranger in ‘07. That made me think all the Expeditions were the extended length ones until that point.
