Holy cow. I had no idea Playmobil was still a thing, and I am so profoundly grateful that they are.

Ok, so both of these were 900 miles away from you, but were somewhat nearby each other. I did not understand that. It’s a bit dopey of them to not try and match something that is in town, but you are doing yourself ZERO favors by telling them you are about to fly in from out of state to come look at the thing. Once

Ok then, that’s legitimately dumb as hell. When I bought my Mustang I knew it had been there for a couple months and it was early Fall, so I knew they wanted to dump it before winter. It definitely helped me out in negotiating.

Computers have also gotten a lot flippin’ cheaper over the last 20 years.

Agree with this sentiment, however....

Lol, I work in a business where people often shop numbers, so I have a pretty short fuse for people saying “oh well this guy said he would do it for this much less.” Sometimes I negotiate. Sometimes I ask why they haven’t signed the other guy yet. Depends on the client which response they get.

TBH, if I’m working for the dealer, and I received that sort of email for a car that was moving regularly, I’d probably tell you to go buy the other one if you liked it so much.

More knowledgeable than the average Jalopnik commenter? Probably not.

Well, this would be the dream, but like housing, I don’t think there will ever be a point were buying a car isn’t a negotiation. It’s too big and expensive of a purchase to not be. And I can’t envision that working any more smoothly in an online environment than an in-person one.

Neutral:

This sounds good on paper, but are we really certain the GM “EV Platform” isn’t just a skateboard with the motor from a can opener hooked up to a 9v battery?

Source: own truck for fun and family and hauling shit, and EV for a commuter, back when that was a thing I would actually do.

Yeah, and Jalopnik is usually square one for a lot of people. Even before the Spanfeller induced exodus, it was common for most people to get their start here then move on to bigger legit publications.

Truth is, battery prices and tech still aren’t there to make something competitive in the economy/value segment. Even though their production has grown exponentially, the cost has not come down they way they had hoped.

Shit shit shit, somebody get the template for the astronaut meme.

Tracy is the only one on the right rack here (a transit connect would not be doing this justice). Big van from the 80's is the only correct answer. I’m all horned up over here thinking about what $25k gets you in that market right now.

It’s not as if this is some critical product for GM.

Interesting. My company mainly just installs them in big industrial facilities (mostly new construction). They are usually specifically called for in the bid documents.

Oh I know, I actually grew up in the back seat of an ‘01 Tahoe that became mine in high school (it had 115k on it by that point). The third row seats spent most of their time just sitting in the back of my parent’s garage. Although my senior year I thought it would be cool to put them back in flip the middle row down
