Damn, that’s beautiful. To meet my budget, I would have needed to go north of 50k miles to get one when I was shopping (Fall of ‘18) which just would not have felt worth it.

Watching the prices on used SS’s not go down for the last two years has absolutely crushed my spirit. But with this guys budget, he should be able to get a good one.

Seconded on the Maserati. My dad bought a 3YO Quatroportte CPO a couple years ago for what would have been same price as a new CTS. All thats gone wrong with it is a bad battery, and a misfire that led to the spark plugs needing replacement due to a self inflicted wound (putting the car in gear and gunning it

I’m really extrapolating here, but I think that, at least on the industrial side of the economy, the sort of person who has made their way into a profession that is “essential” is also the sort of person who drives fast (but not recklessly so). Just as like a personality/frame of mind.

Most of them are using big ticket sim rigs. The lowest end I’m aware of any of them doing is a consumer grade steering wheel with bolted to a computer desk. I don’t even think iRacing well even let you use a controller.

America Instantly collapses when we can’t buy new cars

God damn it. I irrationaly love these things.... but the reason why the love is irriational is because they were total dogshit. Lord know they were comfortable, but the build quality and the godforsaken northstar make this thing CP. Even with regular maintencae, something is bound to be effed on this thing.

Not only did they profit off it, they made the money back faster than expected.

Ugh.

I leased a Tacoma right when the current generation was released, and man, I wound up being disappointed by the end. Needed to have the brake lines flushed 6 months into ownership and needed to battery replacements before I got it back. I would have gotten a Colorado because I have a friend at the dealer but they

Homeslice, trucks were around and selling very well long before this whole craze started, and they will be around after its over.

My cousin went to a used lot in a not great (but not terrible) neighborhood in Chicago to buy a cheap beater commuter car for ~5k straight cash. The salesman still IMPLORED him to get some stupid loan on it, despite having the cash on hand.

Ooof. This whole story is unfortunate, but stories of lazy owners letting well maintained houses go to shit really hit home with me. The neighborhood my dad grew up in just outside Chicago has... lets just say the demographics have changed a bit. Every time he drives by his childhood home it crushes him the current

Fair enough. Although to go with my the analogy earlier, a range of curb weights for the CRV is only ~100 lbs heavier than an Accord on both the lightest and heaviest ends. And I’ve found fuel economy accuracy to be sporadic from model to model. But that gets to the point about how you drive vs. what you drive. I

Ehh, kind of disagree. The mileage difference between sedans and the sort of crossovers that have replaced them isn’t that big. The current CR-V gets 28/34 while the Accord gets 30/38. Heck, a quick google search claims that the an Equinox gets the same as a Malibu. That’s more of reasonable tradeoff for the extra

How do I patent some type of combined daycare/ divorce consultancy shop?

I’ve always wondered what sort of mileage a modern <2.0L powetrain would get if they were put in some 20th century economy cars. Cars that light would theoretically get the tailpipe and non-tailpipe emissions AND fuel economy everyone wants.

They are already on the Hertz lots.

Yeah, something about the shape does not match a Corvette at all with the render. Maybe it’s in how the roof comes down, or maybe the rear haunches? You can always tell a Vette apart from most of the other American sport coupes. This blends with a Stang, Camaro, Challenger
