The point is more that this type of thing is no longer the sole perview of monolithic governments and is being accomplished by “citizens.” Granted, filthy rich ones, but still it’s a step towards space becoming more accessible. The requirements of a phone app and a Vilo cloud account in order to configure and use the product are, unfortunately, a deal breaker for me. From a setup/usage/troubleshooting perspective, my experience working with products with such requirements have been very poor.

Break it down - how much did you spend on this thing, and how much are you saving by not having the deli counter guy slice it for you? I’m having a hard time believing that it’s a reasonable ROI. As much as I’m a huge fan of sandwiches and cold cuts, I don’t think I could justify the savings to buy a slicer like that. It’s a big fucking piece of equipment, and I don’t want to buy a whole deli ham or turkey chub to slice it myself. I’d be trading huge variety for monotony & a bit of savings.
