I know someone who knows the people whose home was used for the interiors of the Whites’ home and from what I understand it was basically free money since the production company was very careful in packing and storing their furnishings and paid for them to stay in a hotel during shooting.

IIRC, the original show did a story where Clarissa and Sam wondered if they should date each other since they were already friends and decided they worked better as friends. I thought that was a surprisingly mature story for a teen sitcom, I was in the show’s target audience at the time and just shocked Nickelodeon

Sadly it wasn’t short-lived, it was a pilot that wasn’t picked up. I remember the creator talking about how frustrating it was to make the spin-off for CBS because he tried to write it like CEIA and network suits kept telling him he had to dumb it down... even tho he was basing it on how he wrote for Nickelodeon.

Probably the same idiots who kept throwing pizzas on that poor couple’s roof, so much so that they had to finally put a huge fence around their property, also pissing off Vince Gilligan, which is a feat in and of itself.

Instead of rebooting a horror franchise based on a Japanese horror movie, maybe try to adapt the work of Japanese horror artist Junji Ito into a US movie. The Japanese Tomie movie was terrible but the comic is so creepy it deserves another attempt.

If only they knew a good guy with a book.

Yes, you make a *great* counterargument when you bring up the anti-war film where the most quoted line is one about how cool destruction is.

I tried the read the GN but hated Scott’s behavior while liking some of the themes and ensemble cast, so I went to see the movie (also I loved Wallace and his IRL inspiration) which I ended up liking because I felt like they noted that Scott’s an asshole... but that might be because he was a lot worse in the first GN.

I think, to paraphrase what I saw someone say on Twitter, it’s just as impossible to make an anti-war movie as it is to make a drama about a talented sociopath who is an unbearable asshole. When the asshole is good at his shit, it’s too exciting and we overlook it, much like how the cool action scenes make us overlook

I disagree we were supposed to see Walt as the hero, he did cool stuff sometimes but the narrative took time to note he was pretty shitty, midway through the first season we learn he had friends who would help him but his ego wouldn’t allow that.

Along those lines, I think I learned from Martha to freeze watermelon cubes and to use them to keep a pitcher of watermelon.... margaritas (I think?) cold.

Sigh. My husband occasionally watches straight porn and he can only handle older stuff from the 80s and 90s. He’s frequently shocked by what he sees in current straight porn. I do think with gay porn, a guy is invited to put himself in either participant’s shoes and ask ‘do I want to do that to another guy?’ *and*

Yeah, this is a continuation of the way political news is largely gossip, TMZ with different players.

Neither option would do her well politically because the people raising the complaints are not doing so in good faith.

Has Warren said anything about having Native American heritage since she’s become a national public figure? I feel like 80% of the time it gets mentioned, it’s a right wing pundit and the other 20% it’s a liberal pundit calling out the right wing pundit for doing so in a racist way.

I’m working through my feelings. When I heard that Parker Posey was cast as Dr Smith, I was hoping for one of her scenery chewing villains instead of one of her more nuanced performances. This looks good, I just need to rework my expectations... and maybe watch some Blade 3.

I don’t think that’s been the case for a while. There’s even a RuPaul quote (I’m having trouble finding the exact line) that goes something like ‘We’re all born naked, everything else is drag’ that summarizes the idea of drag as costumes we put on to fill a role society expects of us. Drag queens and drag kings

I wonder how many of those recipes have ingredients listed by the package. In Hawaii (it seems like something that would be common everywhere but I’ve only encountered it in Hawaii), it used to be a common fundraiser where members would offer their favorite recipes, which would be compiled in a cookbook that would be

I knew the buzz was almost-instantly bad on The Cloverfield Paradox but I watched it to get a Gugu Mbatha-Raw fix before Wrinkle in Time opened.

Wow. I don’t know anything about him outside of the Queer Eye episodes I’ve seen but my admiration for him has jumped.
