Whew! TBH, I was afraid of getting splain-y. I know I have an odd pool of knowledge there but I don’t want to go from helpful to patronizing.

(Okay, sorry, I tried a few times to say this briefly but it’s too complicated. TL;DR: they’re spending a lot of money now because they’re going to get a lot of competition. They’re losing a lot of money now the way Amazon was willing to lose a lot of money in the hopes of dominating the future.)

I’ve been rewatching Selfie on Hulu just to get my John Cho fix. I should probably spend that time catching up on The Exorcist so I can get ready for season two.

I still remember an interview with Ming-Na Wen in the (mid-90s? late 90s?) where she discussed trying to convinced producers of The Single Guy to cast an Asian man as her husband. They believed it would be more challenging to audiences if her character was in an interracial relationship and didn’t believe her when she

My husband and I are both Asian-Americans with mixed backgrounds and her “fancy Asian” vs “jungle Asian” bit was so cathartic, sharp and funny. It felt so good to hear the racism within the Asian-American community addressed and mocked, (especially since I’ve known my share of fancy Asians who object to the term

I wasn’t disagreeing with you, I thought I was adding to the ways that the motivations behind a monument to George Washington and one to Stonewall Jackson were very different.

The Founding Fathers are honored with statues and monuments for other achievements. That they owned slaves and allowed for slavery to continue definitely undercuts their accomplishments and we can debate how much it undercuts them. However, confederate monuments are honoring people whose most prominent achievements

Yeah, Night Trap was an interesting moment in gaming history but I’d get excited about a Double Switch rerelease.

What makes me SMH is that all these people crying “The kids these days” should have learned from when they were the kids being ridiculed.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that’s “both sides”-ing the issue. I think conservatives have a hard time understanding the concept of equality. To them, there must be an oppressed and an oppressor, so when a marginalized group stands up for themselves they see it as a threat, an attempt to become the oppressive force.

Conservatives just can’t seem to wrap their heads around the idea of equality. Dig into many of these discussions and they’re not so much pushing back against equality, they’re fighting a world where they have gone from being the oppressor to the oppressed.

So far, I’ve only seen the clips of Fallon my local news (NBC affiliate so....) showed but he did come off as really stiff in those moments picked out as highlights. I, too, thought it came off forced in the same way DJT’s statement did.

It’s the flavors that make TJ products special. Maybe in larger markets it’s easy to find frozen mango macarons or garam masala popcorn but it’s pretty unique in my area.

Is that the cast nationwide? I wonder because Firestone Walker only just started getting distribution in my state. Also, their recent anniversary brew in my state was a Green Flash beer (sold under a Green Flash label as a special brew for TJ’s).

I knew TJ’s was Aldi’s but I didn’t know about the split. Interesting!

It sounds like that was some of it:

I do appreciate that Netflix has started including long recaps before season premieres on their shows, hope it extends to shows like Scandal.

There are some interesting insights in this Twitter thread:

The GOP has become the party of “Not my fault!” which was their response to being asked, “Do you have any hesitation voting for a candidate so heartily endorsed by David Duke?”

I think the wealth gap works as a good barometer because it’s probably the best option to seeing the gap in opportunity. African-American households are poorer for many reasons but those include things like redlining and targeting subprime loans to PoC families... but we don’t really talk about those things a lot. The
