I was initially disappointed that Black Lightning wasn’t going to be connected to the current CW superhero shows, and then I watched the show and damn it’s good on its own.

This series is fantastic. It’s everything I want from comics. Stakes, humor, meta humor, narrative arcs, one-off issues, great writing, great art most of the time.

Hm. I actually found Neil Sandilands’ performance pretty engaging. It’s a nice change from the bluster that we usually get from the season’s villains.
