Just like everything, there’s fine taste even in Anime. Way before childish crap like naruto and pokemon made it in the US, elsewhere in the world connaiseurs were already importing great japanese manga books and anime vhs. Look up Tsukasa Hojo and then tell me his work is not art.

Americans don’t make the distinction, if it’s a drawing or animation that looks like japanese cartoons they call it anime. In other more culturally advanced places people make the distinction between Anime and Manga.
