3D looks really cool at first. I found that after you use it for a little while, you can still tell the depth of things, but it feels like it's not on, so the point is sort of moot. Also, if used on an RPG, I'd think the battery would die by the time you finished your first goal, but I guess that's why they put the

Sounds like the old textmode CGA dungeon games with a 1 pixel per character skin?

@josephmeraz: time to oil up!!: If you think casual gamers are going to pull off the harder DDR stages, I'd hate to see what you call hardcore. Dance Dance Immolation maybe?

@Drewbob247: If you don't have a 3DS, don't bother yet. Also, play next to a power outlet, as the battery is as bad as everyone feared.

@retsukun: That's exactly what happened when I tried LBP. They refuse to just let you use the tools without proving yourself a thousand times over, so a dozen tutorials or so in, I walked away from it (having already read how to use the tools before I got it!) Then, the floaty, vague controls of the game itself were

@SnoopyFish: She's a timelord. She played EA games before EA was even born!

@coppanuva: Maybe so, but there seem to be two camps of Nintendo players - the fans who can't get enough of the same franchises being applied to everything, and those who just wish they'd put out a new IP that doesn't start with "Wii" in the title.

@Rio-GT: I never had luck with skateboards myself... a wheel would always hit a 0.5cm pebble, and the whole thing would grind to a halt in about 5cm (which I could tell by the inscription left by the dragging rock! haha) Weight forward or back, it didn't seem to matter - I'd need a skateboard with a broom or something

@Static Jak: Link to the Past was the only one that really hooked me. I don't think I've finished it, but I came pretty close when it was new (damn rentals!) Personally, the 3D ones never appealed to me.

@FiletOfBaby: People always find a new normal. In time, it'll pass. The suggestion for exercise in here is a good one - it's like a natural antidepressant, and not just anecdotally. Also, you may find that a lot of the pain comes from wishing it were different. Letting go is easier said than done; I'm just saying

@coppanuva: All of those are based on older games... though to be fair, the original steel Diver wasn't released, it was a DS tech demo.

@Deunan: I'm thinking Lydia's colleagues knew that she personally would have been offended at the event.

@BigManMalone: I have to wonder. If they include MMOs, it is possible, as I've seen estimates of around 60% female base in some of those, and the subscriber base for games like WoW is staggering.

@Akitsu: haha... The combat in ME was so shootery even I didn't keep playing and I waste entirely too much time in games as it is, and REALLY wanted to play the dialogue sections. If there's something that shoots at him and requires reaction time, it's a definite no-go. If it doesn't... well, it's still a video game,

I think the last game my dad played was Space Quest IV. Now... he doesn't really get why I like games. He kind of liked when I showed him GTA4, but will probably never pick up a controller again because it's too engrained in his mind that games aren't for him.

Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, and Child of Eden mostly.

@senselocke: Really well said. As for preorder extortion, I agree. If you get a different thing for buying from each retailer, then it also means that you can never have a complete version of the game, so why bother?

I remember when I was playing Seaman, he asked what I did for a living, and I told him I fixed computers. He said something like

@Realityflaw: It's kind of dumb and cumbersome... First I go to ca.kotaku.com, and I get reply notifications just as always. Then I copy the URL for the reply, paste it into my browser and add ca. to it again. If someone replies from the new site, I have to check my notification to see what time they replied, so I can
