As soon as we shut down with coronavirus I said this is just like Feed by Mira Grant (minus zombies).  The societal changes she described are basically like what we have now, right down to the presidential campaign.

I bought a simple mechanical rice cooker at Target 15 years ago for $20 and it’s still going strong! One button, makes perfect rice every time. I use it at least once a week.

I’m seeing a friend who KNOWS I’m being careful; I’m high risk. We’ve met for lunch in our parked cars a few times since late April. She asked if I wanted to go out to eat somewhere and I’m like no?? We can eat separately, outside on the grass somewhere, and that’s really pushing my comfort level.  Everyone just Read more

I just ditched the Secret Commonwealth audiobook earlier today...4 hours in when you know who starts talking about being in love with the other younger character. Plus the creepy rape in La Belle Sauvage... I’m so frustrated that stuff is in there. Not necessary AT ALL. I loved the original trilogy, so am sad I Read more

I’ve seen SO MANY very very basic food idea “recipes” lately. I think because of demand; people who haven’t hardly cooked before suddenly are making their own meals for months on end and need REALLY BASIC ideas. Like, you have an egg and bread? Put it together! I’ve been cooking my whole life, but it can be hard Read more

I’ve never had it come off except slowly wearing away over the whole day. I do firmly blot after I put it on, so it’s mostly whatever stains my lips left. It goes on very thinly on me, and doesn’t dry my lips at all. Read more

This is a GREAT lip product. Feels like nothing (I don’t like lip balm/lipstick texture), long lasting.  Stay Exceptional is a fairly neutral color.  I put it on, wait a minute or two, then firmly blot off any extra.  Looks pretty natural, but will brighten up your face a bit/give lips a little definition.

You can usually buy stamps at drugstores, grocery stores, gas stations, banks, office supply stores, UPS stores, etc. You can also order stamps from Amazon. I usually get a sheet of 20 at the grocery store when I’m running low, which these days takes forever.

My husband works with a similar setup and he’s resigned to a big IKEA desk because everything else is just WRONG, or made to delicately set one laptop on.  I don’t know what the deal is with desks right now.

I bought several cord management boxes and they’re not big enough for most big setups, especially if you have chunky power strips. I got a pack of Velcro straps and multiple under desk trays (open top helps with the lumpy parts). Some people use the IKEA plastic bag holder mounted under the desk. That worked for my Read more

It was literally the last time I ate out. Or went anywhere other than dr/dentist. I’m not just bored with meals, I’m bored...period. Read more

I had to take Holly for a vet visit a few days ago.  I also felt bad just handing the carrier over.  She got her exam and vaccines and cuddled in my lap all evening.

It’s basically a character study of President Snow as a young man. It’s set after the war with the districts. A lot of the capitol still has very little to eat/very few luxuries.  The hunger games is a thing that no one watches. The books shows the beginnings of how it turns into what we see later.  It’s very Read more

I just finished the hunger games prequel, I started Gideon the Ninth last night. On audiobook I’m working through the Maisie Dobbs mysteries which are relaxing and teaching me bits of British history through the eyes of a single woman during / after WWI leading up to WWII.  Inexplicably my library doesn’t have 2 Read more

A bunch of our nicer local restaurants have been doing something similar. A few friends have gotten some very delicious meals (I’ve drooled at the photos).  They preorder then pick up...I realize I don’t know how far in advance they order! It’s at least a few days.

I had to look up Old Bay and what’s in it.  I don’t think I’ve ever had it.  I know it’s a big east coast thing though.
