First car was an ‘85 Nissan Maxima, metallic brown, with dark brown leather. Automatic, door-is-a-jar voice feedback, everything. Dad bought it for me when I had an unusual bout of pragmatism, and suggested that the ‘73 240z we restored and he surprised me with wouldn’t be the best first car to drive in the winter of

Oh yes... I also have dreams of Coyote swapping a Fox body. With A/C. Because I live in the desert.

Make it a ‘63 and I’m on board.

Vaporware 2.0?

If that thing is legit, I’m very very interested. I really don’t think its legit though.

The fact that they actually reference Jalopnik on their website though makes them cool.

Holy crap it was that long ago!?

That video came out a few months after I started reading this site, although I didn’t have an account back then. Time flies.

The V8 wagon of my wildest dreams have neither PRND nor two pedals.

There is an shielded electrical device nearby. The only mystery is to find it.

First they came for Wagons, but I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a wagon.
Then they came for V8s, but I didn’t speak up because I’m not a V8
Then they came for hatchbacks, put them on stilts, but I didn’t speak up because I was on a normal ride height.

Then they came for me, and no one was left to speak out for me.

It’s a good point. The perfect camouflage would have been ‘rusted out old jalopy’ because then it would just look like someone’s project car.

You can have any car you want, as long as it’s a crossover.

I looked up the video...

Even after all these years it’s still gold.

Odd they didn’t extend the bodywork/ground effects to cover the frame? The photographer doesn’t even seem to be taking a low angle, meaning you can probably see the frame just walking down the street.

Dude, harsh.  Musk is weird as hell but he tends to deliver eventually.   Elio is a straight up con man.  Elio is like that Dale from the 70's.  (That story should be a movie.)

I’ve said all along that Elio Motors reminds me a lot of the mid 70's Dale / Liz Carmichael / Twentieth Century Motors fraud case.

I don’t understand how so many people do not see this.

I assembled a guy’s Factory Five kit car for $7,000 once. At the end of that adventure, I had $7,000 in the bank and one car.

It. Is. A. SCAM.

Paul’s car didn’t use a motorcycle engine. It was SLATED to use a custom engineered unit that was probably derivative of the tiny Suzuki 3 cylinder that the test mule(s?) had in them. Why he didn’t ask someone who made drivetrains already to sell him crate units is a mystery to me. Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost with its

I am still having a hard time with 84mpg when using a motorcycle engine.

The motorcycle that uses the same engine doesn’t get 84mpg and weighs a fuckton less.
