I was kind of hoping for a Skrull or Kree reference...something that could tie into a bunch of other characters and movies down the road....but, I am still jazzed about this movie.

Actually, I have given this some thoguht on days where I imbibed too much alcohol or bad Mexican style food.

I dont think the problem is there are no Heroic Scientists (Mr. Spock? Mr. Fantastic? Dr. Who?) It is getting people to understand scientific principles to drive a story forward without resorting to technobabble, geekspeak, or oversimplification. I think what they mean is that for a common sphere, everything is uniform enough to slip the band off again with no damage to the sphere or the band. With a hrned sphere, because it branches off infintismally, any attempt to put a band around it will either damage the sphere, or damage the band becuae it gets snagged
