If I could knock President Obama for anything it was that I think he was a combination of arrogant and naive enough to think he could work with the GOP.
Also, just to be clear, I still very much admire and respect Dr. West. He’s done so much — and he’s still doing a lot. But I really believe that, although many of his criticisms of Obama were valid, the way Obama didn’t really make space for him hurt him deeply, and that seems to be affecting his public work now.

Unfortunately for your friend, the money and positive feedback flow back to that person. The money doesn’t go to their “art”, it goes to them and it keeps them popular and gives them power.
