As someone who spent his teenage and early twenties as a fat entitled white nice guyTM it’s interesting to me what makes someone jump left (like I did) versus jump right (like... well, y’know, the alt right). There aren’t many authors (Baldwin, Susan Faludi, Germaine Greer) who I read and felt like my heart had been struck by lightning. I dug into Baldwin after rereading something from my black history class in college and just feeling like my view of the world changed. 

If you were to look at who the most prominent alt right personalities are the ones that jump to mind for me are Richard Spencer, Mike “Enoch” Peinovich, Andrew Anglin, and Christopher Cantwell. All of them, with the exception of Anglin, are Gen X (though they’re on the young end of Gen X).
