I agree with you. I think the Trump/GOP relationship is entirely transactional. Which is why I believe the moment Trump is no longer beneficial he’ll be exiled. 

I’m unfortunately not surprised by this. Dick Cheney and members of the Bush Administration are still allowed to work in politics (never mind that they should be in some gulag in Alaska for war crimes). Powerful people take care of their own.

I said this to another poster, I think that it depends on how badly Trump loses (and how badly it effects the GOP downballot). If Trump is dreadfully unpopular McConnell will take the opportunity to distance himself and the party from Trump.

It depends on how he loses. I don’t think McConnell or the GOP as an entity loves Trump. If he becomes unpopular they will take the opportunity to turn on him.
