There was a rumor floating around in around 2020 that a Batman Beyond animated film would be made as a sort of answer to Spider-Verse, but the funnel between ideas for DC movies and execution of DC movies is especially narrow.

While the Venture boys themselves are a Johnny Quest parody, the Hale brothers are from an episode where we learn about the adult lives of all sorts of boy adventurers, from hero sidekicks to Astro-Boy type robots, and the Hales themselves are actually a Hardy Boys gag.  Oh man, Hale and Hardy, I just got that.

Hodgman as a former boy detective still trying to do the job as an adult while hanging around with a blonde asshole from his youth? Based on just the appearance of the stuff in the show, I would have guessed the recipe was “Open about 20 cans of Stagg Beef & Bean Chili, scoop into huge pot. Do not heat.”

Also not for nothing but “First ace since WW2" is pretty disrespectful to the dozens of Korean and Vietnam War aces there were. Shit, Randall “Duke” Cunningham was a Vietnam war ace who ended up serving in the US House of Representatives (until his love of fancy houses and bribes brought him very low)!

Interesting choice.  With all the Year One allusions I would have assumed that Kyle would be living with (and not sleeping with) Holly Robinson, but I know this is more of an inspiration thing than an adaptation thing, and that’s probably for the best.
