One thing that's unclear to me was if the Hancock building was one that was revolutionary. What I mean, is, was the building using new techniques and materials that had never been used before or tested and they found out it failed? Was it an experiment? Because if not, how did this pass muster with regulation boards

I am not that familiar with Macs or chipsets but can anyone tell me what the practical differences between the previous CPU's (Core 2 Duo) and Sandy Bridge (i5, i7) are?

Does anyone know how they do these type of visualizations or ones like it (ie FedEx flights in a 24 hour period)?

Not to nitpick your defense (I wish you all the best), but average speed is not the same as "speed at that moment". You can drive 100MPH for 5 seconds and 60 the rest of the time and over a long enough time, your average will still be closer to 60.

This video was really well done. What impressed me most was how good his English was. Not only that (yes I know they learn it at an early age), but I was impressed at how good his syntax, grasp of slang and popular American culture was as well. For example, he made a joke about Justin Bieber. It makes perfect sense

Isn't there additional cooling from the passing of the liquid from one vessel to the next, regardless of the size of the destination vessel? I thought the bulk of the cooling would be the continual back and forth pouring (say cup to cup).

Seriously? You are not impressed until they add speech recognition? That's trivial compared to what they've done and really is just another obstacle to get to the same destination. Next, you can say you won't be impressed until Watson can "read" the clue from the screen. Just add optical character recognition. What is

It's interesting Ken is complaining about Watson's buzzing prowess because I recall an interview where Ken said his main advantage over the other (human) contestants wasn't his knowledge but how he expertly timed the buzzer. He studied the exact moment he should buzz in.

Is this for real?

Thanks for your feedback Captain. I have a LX3 and an aging (very banged up SD800). I need a replacement for the latter as my pocket cam. It'd be nice to have something with a fast lens. I might order the SD4000 this week.

No, I want to be able to remove the magnet. I am not saying it's a problem. klick73 said the magnets become souvenirs and I was asking if it was easy to remove them from the cups.

That's very interesting and makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing KamWrex.

What a cool read Casey. You wrote it up perfectly and I loved the factoid at the end about the fluid extract of coca. I've always heard the links between Coke and cocaine but didn't know anything about the leaves, the factory, or the deal with the DEA.

This sound pretty complicated but I do think it's really cool that they thought of a way to deliver the content to your Android device. Otherwise, if it was just a file, you'd have to use a blu-ray drive on your computer to copy it over to your phone that you have connected via a usb cable. This way seems much quicker.

It seems like a case of who got there first. Any world class jumper could have gotten that record if they were given the chance to go on the jump. That's cool that Remen got to do it. He'll hold the record for a few days/weeks until there's another event there and another person will break it.

"It's interesting, because if you gave me the photo for the average face for say, China, Korea, Japan and some other Asian countries and asked me to guess where they were from, I could probably get it right."

I can't wait until these things end up costing $5-10 dollars. Then you can just attach them to your keychain, dog, etc and track them.

Surprisingly Trader Joe's does this. Next time they ask, I'll be sure to point out the new law.

For a waterproof headlamp with 100 lumens, this is really a good deal. I like Black Diamond gear. It's great that a mainstream company is embracing advanced LED's that enthusiast modders (and Chinese manufacturers) have been using for years.

You can remove the magnet out of the cup easily?
