McGurk!! Or however it’s rightly spelled, long live Home Movies and this character, brilliant! As long as we’re going retro, remember [lo...] how far out and perfectly glib this character was. If you didn’t see/hear it the first time around, you’ve been hearing homages since...never was glib/antihero done with such a…
The whole thing was a shock to me. Especially because we are not a large town near anything important. My actual response:
Yup, especially since you’ve got to be the cream of the crop server wise to work at a place like that. They hire career servers with plenty of experience, not high school and college kids looking to make extra money.
At $28/hour (on the high end of the range given), working 40 hours weeks for an average of 48 weeks a year, you’re making ~53K/year. That’s not even a middle class existence for a single person in NYC, never mind if you’re trying to support a family.
It’s pretty fucking sick and a sign of how low our expectations are that we’re impressed by $16-$28 per hour. It’s a Manhattan restaurant where everything has to be PERFECT and people are making pretty much poverty wages and we’re all OOH WOW $16 to $28.
At first I thought this was about Hubert Keller and I wanted to cry.
Although from the story, at least some customers asked what it was and were told it was a gratuity.
I assume Pinkham was going to cover this but turned as red as a tomato as his head filled with marshmallows right before having a rage-stroke.
I wonder how many people just saw the “service charge” on the bill and didn’t leave a tip because they thought they already were.
Ee-zackly. And this isn’t snotty one percenters not tipping, this is thinking they’re tipping and the money not going where it was intended. I can see a very persuasive fraud case built against these assholes.
The economy is not and never has been bad for Per Se and the people who eat there.
He reminds me of one of those cows that’s been really beefed up with hormones and stuff
I just can’t get into Affleck as Batman. Every time I see a pic of him in the costume, I think it’s a prank, or from a parody directed by Kevin Smith.
See, I don’t think it’s a problem that an early childhood education teacher may make raunchy jokes or swear or anything - as long as it’s not in front of actual children (future teachers of children don’t count). But honestly, it sounds like she really crossed the line here.
Sean Penn is already off with Minka Kelly. He might have been seeing her already.
Schools generally don’t go through the hassle of removing a tenured teacher unless they’re a real piece of shit.
“I had very high expectations of my students and low tolerance of poor teaching”
University’s rarely fire tenured profs... LSU removed her from the classroom 2 years ago. They knew she couldn’t work with students, but didn’t want to take the BIG step. Teaching is a part of most contracts. Tenure is really freeing, but it doesn’t mean you can be abusive. For me it meant I could be more of myself,…
