I mean, it stands to reason; English is a Germanic language. Old English is actually very similar to German (when I was taking German, an English teacher played us some old English, and I actually got the gist of what was said).

Same here! German is MUCH easier than any romance language for me.
I can see that. I learned all about lighting things way back in the early 2000s, so I’m behind the times =)
I say no for different reasons. It can do what I want it to do, as a teacher, but ONLY when connected to internet. I have not yet been in a school with good internet. Chromebooks also tend to have a lot more issues and break down faster than other computers, and even one Chromebook breaking down is a HUGE headache in…
That must have been an interesting scramble on Friday to get all the lights set up with proper gels and whatnot. Like, I wonder if that was difficult for people, or if there was a rush on giant rainbow lights or anything. Or maybe they were ready in advance, because it looked favorable? Or maybe they’re set up to do…
I think the philanthropy can be problematic. For the Ultra-Ultra rich, it’s become a way to buy power. For the regular rich, it does a lot to separate themselves mentally from “the poors.” I’m not saying that it’s not possible, but I went to a rich-kid college as a poor kid, and while they were wonderful, nice people,…
I remember when my sister realized that our parents were poor, and she took her $10 from Christmas from our grandparents and put it in their change bowl. I remember being REALLY freaked out. (granted, my parents, like most parents, were never $10-would-make-a-difference poor).
SERIOUSLY- I’m upper middle class, teaching at a rich school. They were baffled to learn that they were considered rich, even though they spend a button of time raising money for “poor people” (which is problematic, but at least the money gets raised).
At least you realized! A lot of people at my college acted like travelling to Paris etc was “essential” and “you’ll figure out the money.” No, my family wouldn’t, because we were too busy spending our money on food. I don’t think they ever got it.
Yeah, I think icing someone out and ignoring them is a lot crueller than bullying a lot of the time (not that bullying isn’t cruel- it totally can be- but denying people human connection is probably the worst type of bullying, and kids do it to each other all the time without realizing).
I think the popular kids, by getting attention, become magnets for anger in schools, and that must suck. A lot of times popular kids are really dynamic and interesting, as this girl appears to be, because those qualities can make someone confident, and confidence=popularity on some level most of the time.
I think they did a study where even reading more factual information (including true info about side effects and so forth) sometimes had the effect of making ambivalent pro-vaxxers question their choices. I agree that anti-voxxers are crazy pants (ESPECIALLY the ones in this article), but I think us pro-voxxers are…
Exactly- same with ADHD and a lot of other learning disabilities.
Congratulations!
You’re being awfully literal for a simile based joke.
I think, in context, she’s saying that *she* would look like a malnourished bird if she lost a lot of weight.
Haha if it had been hard to clean, I would have HUNTED THAT FUCKER DOWN. It actually came off fine, so I cooled down a few hours later, and now just love it as a crazy story. Glad you enjoyed!
Get the meds AND fluids- sometimes, your stomach gets locked in a cycle of illness, and can’t break it without some actual stuff to work on (coming from an acid reflux person, not a pregnant person).
YES- I almost got run off the road by an asshole truck driver on 128 the other day. Like, you win, dude, I’m in a Civic. He was driving like he was in a BMW. Gotta love Massholes.
OOH OOH I got one:
