Matt, I understand where you are coming from, but Lifehacker isn't promoting this as "legit". It's very obviously illegal in terms of obtaining copyrighted material through nefarious methods, just like you can do with usenet, torrenting, et al.
I usually put a 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil in with the rice to avoid sticking and use a flexible spatula to stir. I've never had issues with rice sticking with this method.
