I tried playing it when it launched (I’m as old a Nier fan as can be), but maybe I just don’t get mobile games. I thought it was pretty awful. The art, music, and story were intriguing, but it was such a drip feed, it was hard to track the events, and every day it was just the same crap - do some gacha pulls, feel…
It’s not the tedious stuff that turns off some people. Most games are very repetitive. It’s the lack of narrative and cinematic presentation that turns people off. Wrap that stuff around the tedious activities and suddenly your game becomes appealing to a broader audience.
Maybe new Kotaku staff did not know, but old Kotaku staff were aware:
I love that the moment the skyline came here under a different name Nissan stuck it with some janky horrible-feeling drive-by-wire steering system and dropped the manual, literally everyone fell out of care about them.
Horizon 1 and 2 had a really nice vibe of you’ve come out to the festival because you like cats and want to have a good time and you’re meeting people and having fun.
100% agree with the part about 3 onwards “oh you’re so great”
LBJ was sworn in as president while in flight so that plane took off as another call sign and landed as Air Force One so they should cancel out.
You mean Chad Knaus? No, Jimmy has an immense amount of talent but I do think Chad is the GOAT of Crew Chiefs and a lot of the 48 car’s success is due to him. The fact that he had the foresight to get ahead of the COT while every other team treated it like it was never going to happened showed how seriously he took…
I guess I’m in the minority here, but I thought that the Great Sky Island was a genius section of game design. It flowed naturally and felt like it trusted the player to figure it out, and left multiple paths forward for quite a few areas (including that last shrine, which I do admit was a doozy). But all of that was…
I can’t condone the hack, but I have to admit that it’s on brand for Lain.
Before we go burning down the Internet over small cars vs. large, it’s worth noting SUVs are not fairing any better in this new test: https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/toyota/highlander-4-door-suv/2023
Just wanna throw out my opinion on the site redesign. It’s not very pretty.
This perfectly describes my experience with BotW. Also, IMHO, LttP is the better Zelda game. And Elden Ring is a better open world.
Yeah we used to do this at our PC gaming magazine, except we gave the readers 100 slots, it was 2001, you could only vote for PC games that had been reviewed in the magazine (which started in 1996, and we provided a list), and you had to send in proof-of-purchase of the magazine to vote. IIRC we used to get 300-400…
Flashing the red and blue lights on those signs should be outlawed. It crosses the line from “hey, slow down” to a reminder we are in a Police state.
I feel like I have answered some version of this before.....
Third gen Nissan Pathfinder to fourth gen.
What did it lose?
Low gearing
Auto slushbox
Traditional 4x4
BOF
What did it gain?

I still don’t understand the purpose behind plastic cladding around the wheel arches. I think most cars would look fine with the metal arches with a little cladding like the brake vents:
Kind of competitors in that they are both large sedans, Honda Accord and Dodge Charger:
